Why did you say the salesman was "money hungry"? So the guy works for a living and that makes him money hungry? I suppose you like to work for free or minimum wage? If not you must be money hungry.

Most salesmen at dealerships work an "up" system - meaning that they take turns at the customers walking onto the lot. He wasted his "up" on you and your buddy.

I give the guy for being polite to you even though you acted like an azzhat. And then young guys wonder why they get treated like crap and dealerships won't let them take a test drive when they are serious about buying.

Rule #1 in sales is never judge a customer by his or her appearance and decide what they can afford.

I know your post was trying to be funny, but the reality is that it's pretty sad......

Skipping to the end.....thats nothing.
Midway Chev in Phoenix has a RF Z06 for $79,999 plus $40,000 market adjustment. Total over $120,000.

We shouldn't give this kid a hard time, like he said, 9 times out of 10, he's smarter than everyone else. Those are some pretty good odds. I read an article about some kid who was only 20yrs old and was schooling professors at Harvard and talking to Nasa about the design of new spaceships. We should be careful, this might be him!!

I, along with a few of the other guys have been in the car business (4 years) and have been rather succesful at it. I made over 100k last years selling cars becuase I treated everyone of my customers with respect, worked hard, and tried to be as knowledgable about my product as possible. Granted there are some twits such as yourself that do know more about certain things on certaing vehicles than some salespeople do, and find it necessary to make your salesperson feel as stupid as possible.

I agree with the rest of guys saying that the salesman did his job, and you truley were the idiot. Also, I didnt state my income to brag, I just feel that you should realize that it is all to common for the salesman to make more money than the cocky jerk he is showing a car to.

Where do you work? Id like to come down to your job, have you walk out in the hot sun, bust your *****, make you feel dumb, waste your time, cost you money cause you cant talk to other customers, oh and your not going to make a penny.

Ditto...well said.

Sounds like a made-up story to me anyway guys. Or, at the very least, embellished.

Id bet the farm that if he didnt give you the time of day, or prejudged you as not being able to afford the car, youd be on here bragging about your internet millions and how you can buy the car if you wanted to.

I actually wouldnt mind that. It gets boring sitting in front of a computer when its nice and hot all day. Can you stop by everyday around 4, so that by the time we get back in I can go home!

I sold cars in 1998 & 1999. I live in a small town, so I had to travel 40 miles to work & 40 back. I made pretty good money. My first year I made $58k, the second $64K. I just couldnt take the comute anymore & was missing out on my wife & sons life.....so I quit.

Just so you know I can relate...........

I had kids come in & think they knew it all & disrespect me. The dealeship I worked at was close to a very upscale community, so it was a daily occurance. The salesmen did his job just fine if you ask me. The first step in any sale is to make a friend. Even if its to some snide punk kid or to what you might think is a broked**k (what we would call people who appeared to have no $$). Even so, there is a level of professionalism & respect you give to every customer or potntial buyer.

Its a shame that people like you think that just because he's trying to do his job he's money hungry........well, in a sense, I guess he thats why he's working. Do yourself & the next salesman a favor, peruse the lot when the store is closed. You'll save yourself from looking like a moron, and the salesman can get on to the next customer who might actually buy a car.

I was in the Chevy dealership last week having my ZR2 inspected. I strolled into the showroom, and there sat a 2007 yellow Z06. The salesman walked up to me and asked, "how are you doing? Anything I can help you with?" I replied, "Not really, my Blazer is in service, so I thought I'd peek and see if you had anything interesting in here"...

From there we had a nice conversation about the Z06 and how capable it is... verbally compared it to my C5, etc.

A customer came in and I stepped aside.

These guys have to eat too, so there is no reason to abuse them. In the chance he was new, you could have had just as great of a time showing him what you know about 'Vettes to help him with future sales... next time when you want a new one, he may just help ya out

Chuck

Looks like everything that needs to be said has been.
The salesman did his job(despite the perceived lack of knowledge).
The customer ended up at the desk(despite or because of his games).

Hey California Kid, care to stick your neck out a little further? Chop! Chop! As you have read, the MEN on this forum don't play and we all respect the working man. I don't know how you're feeling right now but I can be assured that if you have read all the above you are maybe feeling a little ashamed. Anyway good luck in the future buying a new car. You might want to go to a different state to do so.
P.S. No response!?!?!?
