C5,Sky,S2000, or new Camaro
Hello guys, new guy here.
I sold my Harley, so now I'm due for a new toy. Wife says 2 wheels are dangerous,,, so it looks like she is saying no new Harley.
I've listed 4 car choices above, but I'm thinking the Camaro and Sky will be above what I am willing to pay. I'm thinking around $30,000.
I like the way the Honda looks, and I can't leave anything alone "stock". I see potential with this car! I also like the C5's and see there potential.
If I go the Vette route it has to be a convertible and a 6 speed. Why doesn't GM build a Z convertible??
Select ride option,,, is that just something that adjusts the shocks, or does it do more? Z51 option,,, what is it?
Thanks for the info.

You can probably find a Saturn Sky under $30K unless you go with the turbo version. Some dealers are still asking over MSRP though so you may have to shop around.
If it were me, I'd go with a C5 - great power, handling, comfort and fuel economy.

That is what I would want, turbo. I agree with the over MSRP. I also believe that is what will happen with the Camaro.
I'm not planning to purchase right away, as that is why the mentioning of Camaro.
Thanks,

I've owned a couple S2k's, there cool cars, but nothing like a C5. Check out the C5's for sale section, that's where I found my low mileage 2000 z51 vert 6 speed w/ mods and for quite a bit under $30K. The C5 is just alot more bang for the buck than the other cars you're considering.

Essentially, all C5s are the same from 1997-2004. And modding goodies are plentiful. And to me, there ain't nothing like a V-8. Get one before they're banned by the eco-*****.

The C5 is at the top of my list right now. C6 is cool, but outta my range.
I think any of the cars I mentioned would look good sitting in the garage, but after the "newness" wears off, the Vette would still give you goosebumps looking at it.

My wife pretty much gave up on getting me off a Harley, now just figures I'm replacable. Anyhow, get a nice C5 and you won't be sorry.

2023 C5 of the Year Finalist - Unmodified
I think you'll get predictable replies here
The Sky is OK but ..........
The Camaro will be long wait
The S2000 is a great little car. My friend had one. High revver and tight performance but it drives way different to the Vette. The seats are as hard as *$5^ by the way.
No contest really

Having said that there are two of us in the IE that are defectors from S2ks to C5s. The big reason for me was the "extra" space in the Corvette. I did go with a coupe, so I don't know if you would find the same with the S2k. I am big... no really, 6'3" and 285lbs. BIG!! The Corvette just fits, the S2k was just a little small.
I prefer the first gen S2k. I loved the hit when the VTEC kicked in. The car is screwed together a little bit better than the Corvette. It is better when tire replacement comes along.
Issues with S2k: some are known to have valves seize in the guides. They run something like .0005 clearance. Clutches and rear ends will not stand up to hard launches, ever. Halfshafts are also weak.
The S2k drives like a Civic under 5,000 and then the monster breaks loose. Much harder as a daily driver. The top is single layer and the car can get pretty loud on trips. The Corvette will also get better mileage.
Please feel free to PM me if you have more questions.
Love my C5 more than any other car I have owned, and there have been about 40 (and I'm not.)

Test drive them first......
I don't fit in a Sky....I like the styling though.....
The Camaro is many moons away....
The C5 would be my 30K choice......There are some low mile Z06's for low thirties in the for sale section here......

If you know that the Sky and Camaro are junk because they are made by GM, (that has to be the only way you would know this since the Camaro does not even exist yet) please inform me what company biult the C5.

Think about the Solstice Turbo GXP. These can be had for under 30 grand with options. I bought one for my wife and she loves and so do I. Truly wish it was mine to drive everyday. I have found ours to be very high on quality and fit and the performance is hard to believe. Our Corvette is a 2002 automatic with the standard rear end gears. The Solstice Turbo GXP (automatic) will give it a good spanking up to 60.

you can get the solstice cheaper then the sky (and most think the sky is the girls version). My choice would be in order:
c5 - still looks great, and you said you want to modify it (the ls1 is great)
Camaro - will be nice, but it isnt a corvette.
Solstice/sky - I bought the C5 over a solstice,
s2000 - eh, Im not a big fan of NA 4 bangers that rev to 9,000,000,000,000,000,000,000,000,000,00 0,000,000,000,000,000,000,000,000,000,00 0,000,000,000,000,000,000,000,000,000,00 0,000,000,000,000,000,000,000,000,000,00 0,000,000,000,000,000,000,000,000,000,00 0,000,000,000,000,000,000,000,000,000,00 0,000,000,000,000,000,000,000,000,000,00 0,000,000,000,000,000,000,000,000,000,00 0,000,000,000,000,000,000,000,000,000,00 0,000,000,000,000,000,000,000,000,000,00 0,000,000,000,000,000,000,000,000,000,00 0,000,000,000,000,000,000,000,000,000,00 0,000,000,000,000,000
