Default No More Dealerships

I have been using the dealership for oil changes since my neighbor is (was) the Vette Service Mgr. and he allowed me to bring my own oil. He has left the dealership and moved on. My last oil change (my first since he has left) was last week. My appointment was for 9:30am. I check on the status of my car at 10:45 only to be told they had not even brought it into the shop at that point. I told the new serivce mgr "get my car, I am waiting no longer" He apologized, with no excuses, and offered to do it immediatlly at no charge, plus they would not use my oil. Another 1 1/2 hrs and I left with my free oil change. Almost three hours from the time of my appointment. They really should not be called "servce Departments" since proper service is one thing they do not provide.

I think it is time to do my own changes.

Well at least you got a free oil change,,, some would not not even care, they would just give your keys back and say ,,,, C ya !!

Sometimes sh*t happens and they're delayed. glad it turned out good for you,

Doing your own oil change will help you spend quality time with your car!

i agree on doing your own oil ..

but essentially you had to wait cuz there lift was backed up? .. okay, well guess what, **** happens and when they were made aware of their error they made it right.

In the past I have gone to a jiffy lube near my house. I have brought long boards so my lowered car can make it over their rails. They had no problem with the boards or me using my own oil. They would charge me $25 and I would be in and out within 30 mins

They did a good job but its tough to screw up an oil job. I mean, you'd have to have the incompetence of a dealership

Since I now have my own lift, I will be doing my own oil.

I sure hope they did too, I HATE having ppl work on my car thats why I try to do everything myself and another thing that bothers me that other places dont do is fill the oil filter up w/ oil before screwing it onto the car, I ALWAYS do this cause it halps to lessen the "no oil pressure" time after the first start up after an oil change.

I do my own changes as well and I always pre fill the filter before installing. I'm not sure how many actually do this but I did it long before getting into Corvettes.

An "appointment" at a dealership?

Not where I live. It is always the same story no matter what I need done - "Bring the car in Monday morning between 7:30 - 8:00am and we will call you when the service is done". Sometimes it is ready that afternoon and sometimes 3 days later?
