Column Lock Info
Forgive me if this is old news to you out there but I found it interesting. I have a 03 LPE ZO6 that had the Column Lock Recall completed. I goofed up and let the battery go dead during storage. I charged the battery started the car and low and behold I had the "Service Column Lock" message in the DIC. I took the car to my local chevrolet dealer(very good with vettes) and they put the "TECH2" scanner on it and no codes. Next they tried to reset the body control module and the car computer would not allow a link or access to occur. After two hours of frustration the mechanics (2) called GM's Tech support, tech support stated "oh yea when the battery is allowed to go dead you need to remove the battery cables and touch them together."
Hokus Pokus and the message dissappeared.
Touching the battery cables together and $95.00 got the Service Column Lock message to dissappear. I am not complaining the service techs did a good job of being committed to get the problem resolved.

Thank you!
Thank you for posting this.
I just got this message, after resetting the display the "service column lock" message would still come up after evey restart. But after disconnecting the battery for 5 minutes, touching the cables together and reciting "Hocus Pocus" verbatum the message is now gone!

Boy, it's amazing with all the things that can be discussed about these cars that column lock situations are so high on the list. GM sure screwed the pooch on this one. Maybe the inventor of the CLB should have gotten a Nobel prize instead of "you know who".
