I've been wanting to change out the head unit too...if you're doing it just for the look, then it should be cool

but if you're doing it for sound, you're better off replacing everything including the speakers

I did mine last year. Pioneer Elite DEH-P680MP with Sirius receiver and iPOD control. I replaced the Bose speakers also with basic Alpines. Sometime this summer I am going to add an amp to power a new sub and components in the doors.

Now that's one of the more classy aftermarket face plates I have seen. Nice job.

I went with the Pioneer N3 for the added features and nav system. I have a custom bezel back lit with LEDs. To see photos click on my corvette photos to left.

wow, I went to three car stereo stores today. I can't believe the aftermarket stereos. I saw one that displays engine rpm, and one that shows horse power,e.t., and g's. This is going to be a big decision. thanks for the pics. keep em coming...

I want to make sure that I understand the situation. First of all, one of the Corvette owner's commendments is that you do not let spouse or girlfriend drive car.

Looks like you have been committing mortal sin, many many times.

I could be wrong, as might simply be a passenger.

Secondly, if she is driving (AS I AM SURE SHE IS), she will be driving this high performance car, about as fast as you do perhaps. Then every 3 minutes or so, she will look down at the radio to see what station she is listening to and to read the name of the song. Hopefully, she will not particularly like the song entitled: "If I left my chewing gum on the bedpost over night," or some such song.

Next thing we know, you will be in the market for another vette to replace the one she wraps around a guard railing.

LOL.

well here is the situation. She works, she bought the car, she drives it everyday to and from work. Now she wants a new stereo. So be it. I personally like the factory stereo. I like the scv. It works great. I hope the corvette book of commandments doesn't say "your husband can't drive your vette" If it does I am breaking that rule.lol

Here's a couple pics of mine. The face plate with the "corvette" on the bottom I'm pretty sure if from www.humount.com , they have a few different styles that are very nice. I changed my HU, front speakers and made a custom sub box/partition with 2 8" kicker subs. I also make these sub boxes/partitions for sale. They can be customized in several ways-I have made boxes to fit up to 4 10" subs! Search for my threads to see more examples. Anyone interested just shoot me a pm or email j_burback@yahoo.com

I've got one for sale...in tip top condition....just wanted to keep the stock look in my Z06.

It's got the mounting kit to go in the vette too!!

Not trying to thread jack just throwing it out there!!

That unit is 1.5 DIN, so it will fit in the opening without a filler panel. I was thinking about that one last year, but it is an older model and doesn't have iPOD connectivity.

Will that Pioneer 1.5 DIN actually fit in a C5? That would eliminate the need for a faceplate....right?

I don't have any pics of it in my vette b/c I decided not to put it in there.

That pic of it in a car is in my old T/A....it was in there for only about 3-4 months!

are you sure? I called Pioneer and spoke with customer service. She said if you get the CDRB10 adapter you can connect your ipod. One thing I am finding. Not many 1.5 DIN stereos available

Maybe it was a previous 1.5 DIN model I was looking at. I know at the time it did not have iPod or SAT compatibility. With all the GM and Chrysler cars out there with 1.5 DIN, you would think that there would be more models available.
