I went thru 3 Optima Red Tops in 4.5 years in my '98. Needless to say, you're not going to words of praise from me. I wouldn't have another one if you gave it to me for free. Put in a Sears DieHard Gold 2 years ago and have had absolutely no problems whatsoever. My advise---buy anything but an Optima.....Good luck.

Go for the gold. I've got Duralast Gold with no problems. great battery. Optima, Duralast Gold and a lot of others are made by the same company, johnson controls. do a search on them.

My '99 had the leaking battery problem and had to be replaced (not before it corroded the crap out of one of the leads which also then had to be replaced).

Went with an Optima redtop and haven't had a problem since. I'd buy another if I needed it.

Funny thing about Optima. People either love them or hate them.
