I installed a new optima battery in my 2001 coupe last year. The original Delco AGM lasted over 4 years with no problems, so far this year the optima has died twice. Auto Zone is willing to replace it for free, however I've been told these batteries can be a problem. I was told to look at a Duralast Gold instead.

Go for the gold. I've got Duralast Gold with no problems. great battery. Optima, Duralast Gold and a lot of others are made by the same company, johnson controls. do a search on them.

My '99 had the leaking battery problem and had to be replaced (not before it corroded the crap out of one of the leads which also then had to be replaced).
Went with an Optima redtop and haven't had a problem since. I'd buy another if I needed it.
