Default battery tender questions

Is there a particular battery tender that most people recommend for long term (7 months) storage?
What companies or forum vendors have the best deals?
Is it better to remove the battery from the car when hooked up to the tender for that long, or is it alright to hook up the tender with the battery still in the car?
Thanks for the help.

Yes, you can leave the battery hooked up in the car. Battery tenders will charge just fine without damage to the car's electrical system. It is a float charger so once it tops off the battery it will shut off.

I have a battery butler and it works very well.

Leave the battery in the car with the tender hooked up. Everything is automatic so rest assured that you're in good hands with the "battery tender plus".

battery butler is pretty good-they charge the battery as needed and are good for long term storage. I have been using one for 3 years and no problems.

The Battery Tender does all the work. It is not the same as a trickle charger. The B-T will charge the battery then settle back and turn itself back into charge mode when and if the battery falls down below 80% full charge. It does NOT keep a constant charge going.

Here you go...

We've sold 300+ of these so far this winter. IMHO they are the
best around.

I have used the Battery Tender Jr over a few winter months when i Vette sits inside my garage. It works fine in keeping the charge on the battry.

The Deltran Battery Tender Plus would be a good choice (I have this one). You do not need to remove the battery from the car - just hook it up and let it be. Does a great job keeping the battery charged up. About $60 from any vendor.

That's what I'm using. Picked up two of them, one for the vette, one for the John Deere!

I have been using a Battery Tender Jr. for the last 2 years on the GTO then the Z. Works as intended, I would recommend it.

No as long as you start it up every couple weeks and let it run for 10min or so.

Thanks photoguy. I am about an hour west of Pittsburgh. Can't wait till nicer weather finally gets here to stay. I have had my car for about a week, and it is killin me to just watch it sit in the garage. Sure is pretty though. :-)
