Now see, I respect your opinion chase. It soundly based and argued.
thanks. I've been burned too. check my wood gearshift **** thread.
I am starting to agree with the "what do you think of my..." questions, but I did ask about my wheels and NOT my paint. Really it is only 2 to 3 people in the whole thread that are hell bent on my paint. This thread is not about satin paint.
truth is the thread IS about the wheels. For me, I like some contrast from the wheel to the tire to the body. Of course, if the body has a dull finish, for my taste, then I get no relief from the dull finish of the tire. Add in a dull wheel, and I'm unhappy!! So, the only black wheels I can tolerate are ones with a polished rim or something like that.
I do expect a certain bit of bombarding, because my car is so different the your run of the mill Corvette. Although, I get 10x more positive feedback everyday.
I'm sure you do.
One other thing I can say is that pictures do not do a Satin finish justice vs. seeing it in person.
My Dad was a cabinetmaker. He went to school and 'learned the finishing skill" as he worked at it. I was in my early teens and absorbed everything he learned, we used to talk all the time. this is a long way of saying that photos do not do justice to many finishes.
I'm not arguing that my way is better. I argue that the car has plenty of life and character. That it is not ugly or ruined, and that it is a very nice car that has tons more effort put in it then many C5's.
remember that's YOUR choice.
I have had other respectful people tell me that it is not their style, but a very nicely done car. I respond with a thank you.[/QUOTE]
As you should. So much of what we like and dislike goes 'with the times'. As I mentioned earlier, as a kid growing up in the 50's, I saw plenty of primer painted cars. Yours looks much better, but to my 'shine loving' eyes, it's similar. HOWEVER, if I had Doc Brown's Delorean, I could introduce you to a host of people who, after tearing your car apart, would then get on MY shiny black Z, and I can tell you what they would say:
"it looks like a bean or a black bug'
"there's nothing to it"
"WHERE'S THE CHROME!!?"
"WHERE'S THE BUMPERS!! What if ya get hit?!!!"
"how do-ya get into that thing?"
"It only holds 2 people?!! for ______ sake!!"
it just goes on. let it go. taste is not a reflection of a standardized rating system. there is no right or wrong....unless you ask me!

Just because a car is customized doesn't mean that it's been "brought to life". Sorry, but the car looks flat. Maybe its the clear corners, the glare from the headlight cover, and the stance of the car, but when I see a car with satin finish paint usually there's an agressive visual presence to the car. Sorry, but this just looks like a stock car with satin paint.
All the effort in the world can be put into a car, but if it doesn't come together it doesn't matter much. "Efforts without results are meaningless".

I have said I am working on lowering the front, but I live in Missouri with ****** roads, and this car is my DD, so it helps me get around with a silky smooth ride quality. Speed bumps and steep inclines don't bother me.
The reason It is not all tinted out is that she disappears into the night. She can be really hard to see with out her lights on. The lense reflections help big time.
I like the lenses showing. It breaks up the color a bit. Just like my center caps. I am going to get clear side markers, and LED tail lights eventually.
You can see the reflections off my buddies truck better then my car.
