Default C6s There giving them away!!

Well I was out for a cruise today and decided to stop ay my local Chevy Dealer just to look around.

Before I could get all the way in the door, a salesman greeted me and asked..what year is your vette..a 2005.
I said no it's a 2001. Looks new to me he said.

He informed me that they had 1 2006 leftover on the floor and wanted to know if I was interested! I said no just came to look. Before I knew it he threw out a trade in figure of 26,500.
I only paid 25k for it 2 months ago. I said that's a great figure but the 06 is a little out of my budget right now.

To my surprise he was willing to knock the sticker down from 46,900 to 41,000!!

I thought for a while and finally told him I really like my C5 better.
Am I crazy for not taking him up on his deal??

No you're not. Your C5 is a great car, and there will always be newer/faster cars you can buy.

I think the C6 is likely a better vehicle, and I love the paddle shifter auto tranny; but the beautiful, flowing shape of the C5 is the deciding factor for me whenever I get the urge to trade.

I could have gotten the C6, I ended up getting a used Z06 C5 instead.

Its sad to say but when I test drove the C6 I hated it, I actually looked at the car salesman and said "this is the first time in my life I have not gotten excited on a test drive....this sucked" He was shocked that I wasn't happy.

My GF was with my at the time, saw me when I got out of the car and imediately asked "are you ok, you look unhappy"

I ended up getting the Z06, and it makes me grin everytime I see it and drive it.

Nope! You are $14500 plus taxes,ETC AHEAD of the game. And have a better car NOW than if you indebted yourself into a trade for the "lesser" car. Just my opinion.

That would be a hard deal for me to turn down only 2,900/year difference to trade up, seems really reasonable.

Traded in my 2005 vert for a 2004 machine silver vert with 7500 miles. The lines of the c5 are more attractive IMO

Some dealers have been blowing out 06's for a while now. The cheapest I saw was $39,700. I'd do it in a heartbeat. Unfortunately, I keep getting lowball offers for my 30k mile 00 Coupe.

Kinda like the fact that our 97 with under 24,000 miles is paid off and looks and drives like a brand new car!

I put that in the same file as the Virginia partsman that asked "what engine was in that Vette" It's more of the "illegal immigrant" thing.

That is a good deal for the C6, but if you like the C5, then why switch.

I agree. He said he will give me the same deal in the spring if the 06 is still there. I could probably sell mine for more than 26500 if I wait so I am in no hurry. only 21K on her with every option available plus z51 suspension and corsa Indy's.
I think I will just wait and see.

What are the options on the C6? Kerbeck sells C6"s all day at this price with very little options.

I noticed he said 2005, but didn't get to the bottom of the thread before you came back in. Figure the guy oughta know C5s weren't made in 05. Jeez, is he related to the "What engine" guy at the parts counter in another thread?

This is exactly what I'm thinking..... With a little twist

I would take a fraction of the $14K and modify my C5, to get about the same performance as a stock C6.

The reason why I feel this way is because last April, when I looked into trading in my C5 for a C6, (notice I didn't say "trade up") the difference would have been almost $20K.

At the time, my C5 had only 8,000 miles on it (It has 18,000 now) and with only $2,500 invested in mods, I have a better looking car, that will give me just about the same performance as a stock C6...... With a lot of $$$ left in my pocket.

You should have asked that salesman if he would give you the same deal on a 2006 Z06....
