Default I can't believe I got SAPPED!!!

Yeah, without thinking, I parked my Vette under a giant pine tree at work for just a few minutes, well, a few minutes turned into a few hours and by the time I left work, I had these big giant water drops on my windshield and all over the car. On the way home I turned on the wipers only to QUICKLY discover these were not your normal everyday water droplets, these were Tree Sap Droplets. Anyone know what the best stuff is to remove these little sticky piles of crap? Once I get my car clean, I'm going to bottle some of that stuff to repair some kitchen cabinets and then I'm going back to work with my new holiday Chain saw! I'm thinking WD 40? Maybe a little gas on a rag? Any advise?

Thanks ....Rocket

I'd try washing it first with a good car soap and warm water. Whatever you do, PLEASE DO NOT use Gas on a rag.

Goo gone works very well and seems to be safe with the paint finish

If the sap is fresh enough, it should come right off with very warm mild soapy water.

I used wd-40 on some spots that I could not get off.
I washed and re-zainoed after.

I got caught in a HUGE hailstorm a few years back. My only cover was under a pine tree. (You know where this is going. ) My beautiful yellow C5 was green a few minutes later. I tried all of the tricks above with little or no success. I ended up wiping down the entire car with acetone. I used plenty of rags so I wouldn't be dragging anything over the paint. I know that most of people here are going to **** their pants over that and say that I ruined the car. The fact is that was two years ago and the car still looks like the day I picked it up new. I even had to clean sap off the 3M clear bra and wheels. NOTHING was hurt.

Any kind of wax should take it off. I have to park my work car under a pine tree daily. If the spots are very big, you may have to work on it a few minutes with the wax, but they will come off. You can even wax the windshield.

clay bar is the only way to go. Will work on sap, over spray, crusty bug guts everything. And unlike what some will say, the benefits far out weigh any harm you may do to the paint, just make sure you kneed the clay real good, and often.

WD-40 will work on that - just wash the car down afterwards.

Never parked the Corvette under a pine tree but did so with my previous Grand Prix and ended up with much pine tree sap on it. I too used Acetone very gently with no harm to the paint. It was a nervous experience after I tried everything from water to mineral spirits and nothing but acetone worked!!

Kerosene will work very well without any damage to your car. You will need to re-wax though.
