Default Welcome

Glad you've joined the Corvette crowd. I'm a "mature" vette owner (2000 red vert) and have owned many 65Mustangs and a 29 Ford (with a SBC engine though )so I have a history with Fords (sorry I said a bad word) also. You will luv this car, I drive mine EVERY chance I get. I'm dumping my 18K Goodyear runflats and going with the Goodyear GS D3's. Good luck, lots of great people here with sound advice. Ron

Welcome!

I am a very PRO-BFG guy and you can't go wrong there. The price and product is what I like about BFG.

You may want to look into MTIs shifter, I have heard some great things about their shifter. THe C6 ZO6 have been getting some solid reviews too.

Congrats on the car! Enjoy it and see you on the road!

Thank Y'all,
The best thing about owning a unique car or motorcycle is the wonderful people you meet! We took our car to school today and we had a HUGE crowd of kids surrounding the 'Vette, my wife and I were deemed the coolest teachers in the school. We never seem to disappoint, my '04 Mustang GT/GT 350 H rendition with it's long tubes and flows rattles the cafeteria windows when I fire it up. The Corvette we love for it's refined ride, quiet, comfortable interior, crazy electrical gadgets, and that wonderful stupid-fast acceleration, and of course, it's neck turning good looks! We look forward to meeting Y'all at the Kentucky cruise. Thanks for the warm welcome,

John

Welcome! PREPARE TO MOD

I have the Goodyear GS-D3's and I'm very happy with them.

I also have a coupe but I have never had an air leak issue and I have not heard alot about it being a common problem since I joined this forum(almost 3 years ago).

By the way, where is Deerfield, VA? Im up in NOVA.

First of all - welcome! You'll find out that the very best thing about Vette ownership are the friendships you'll make - both here and where you live. Corvette people are some of the finest people that I have ever met. They are typically the most generous with their time and money when it comes to "good causes". They will never let a fellow Corvette owner down.

As far as tires - I have had both the BFG KDW and I now have the Michelin PS2. The only issue I had with the BFG is that it wasn't available in the size I wanted for the back of my car...if it was available I would have bought it. It's a great tire - much less expensive than the Michelin. As far as the Michelin PS2 - it's probably the best tire I have ever owned. Only down side is it is a little pricey in the bigger sizes. Both are a huge improvement over the OEM GY EMT. Lot's of people rave about the GY GS-D3, and the only thing that kept me from looking into them was the limited size availability. It can be pricey too. If I had to recommend one in the stock sizes, I don't think you can go wrong with the BFG KDW.

Again - welcome and I wish you and your wife miles and miles of smiles! BTW - black is the best color for a Vette!

Welcome to the forum.

I too didn't care for the stock shifter **** and went with the c6z shifter from Fred Beans ($210 shipped). Easy install takes about 20-30 min. Throws are about the same as stock, but the shorter, bent handle in addition to a perfect fitting **** make for a huge improvement over the C5 shifter IMO.
