Can I get stock mufflers off w/ramps w/o cutting?
All,
Just got my Corsa Pace Car setup with Pro series tips Very good deal and I am VERY excited to get them on.
As the post asks, can this be done or do I need a lift? I want to keep my stock stuff in good shape. Eventually will replace it all stock, I am sure (NOT). I have the long and low type of ramps and can supplement with some driveway slope. If you think I can do it, or have done it yourself, looking for your story. Thanks

You can do it, but you have to get the rear-end of your car so far off the ground that it really becomes a safety issue. I think the rear-end has to be around 38 inches off the ground to be able to roll the pipes over the rear-end.
Highly recommend a lift as everyone else has.

I doubt that it can be done with just low ramps. You really need to get the car at least 30" in the air.

I did it without a lift but had to get it about another 2 ft. off the ground. You don't need to cut anything but if you have an automatic some have had to remove the heat shield from the tanks to get the clearance. It is not big deal but a pain.
If you can get it on a lift you should be able to do the entire switch within about an hour.
I wanted to keep my stock equipment also. Then later I couldn't even find anyone to give it to-so I sent it to the scrap yard.

I did it in the garage and it sucked to say the least. You need to get the backend really high off the ground and honestly at that height it just didn't feel safe (even with safety items).
I was happy once I got it back on the ground.
In the end I just threw them away anyway. Many tuners have tons of these sitting around so if I need a set I will just go to one of them to find one.
If you really set on saving them then go to a place that has a lift. You might get lucky and a local tuner will do it for free or very inexpensive.

I pulled mine off in the garage but the nose of the car was almost to the floor. Pretty unstable even with jack stands. Spend the bucks and take it to a lift.

Cut Them...I moved the box with the stock mufflers in them around my garage more than I care to think. The next move will be at the scrap yard. No one wants them...can't even give them away.

Drifting
It wasn't that bad w/ two sets of ramps and jack stands. It is up there, however.

Safety Car
I did mine in the driveway, but would not do it again. Not very safe. I used ramps to get it off the ground good, disconected everything, then jacked it up real high, put it on jackstands, removed the old exhaust, put the ti's on, lowered it back down on the ramps, and tighted everything up. Not very safe, take it to place with a lift and spen the few bucks to be safe.

I did mine without a lift or ramps. I blocked the front wheels and jacked the car up, put it on jack stands, lowered the jack, put blocks on the jack and then moved it up higher, then back on jack stands etc. As stated on the post ya need to get it about 30" off the ground in the back, nose on the ground in front. I also had to disconnect the sway bar. Now that I have done it, I could do it again in 20 min. My advice, when the car is low, disconnect the bolts (for mufflers and sway bar) then jack it up and put somethign under the wheels wood blocks, this way you are not under the car turning wrenches when the car is way up and if it falls it lands on something other then you.
Also you may want to see this web page which I used as guidance.

I would not even think of attempting this in the garage no matter what method you use. There simply are ZERO safety margins, should something slip, creak, groan or break. If if falls on you, the short and simple fact is....You are DEAD.
Even on the lift, undoing the sway bar makes things considerably easier. From recall, the top bolt is 74 lbs torque and the bottom 55 lbs..... I think???
