Could not agree more. Automobiles are depreciating liabilities unless you are fortunate enough to purchase several exclusive, limited production cars, such as the Ford GT (wait and see),McClaren, several Ferrari's and so forth. Older Corvettes carry a hefty price tag due to desirability and limited availability.

Drive the car beacuse you enjoy it. Do not look at a car as an investment- buy stocks or mutuals.

time to grow up son!
Well, my parents are letting me keep a 98 Camaro B4C as long they can borrow it too and also as long as it is registered under their name. Nice ride with an LS1 motor, comes with a back seat and its fully paid for...

My 2000 vert stickered over 55k and is now worth about 25k and only has 17k miles. I still love the car and I am keeping it forever.

they haven't dropped at the dealers . Just on ebay and individual sales .
I have also noticed that C6 ( 05 -06) are dropping just as fast .
you can ebay a almost new 05 for around 32k , and loaded with goodies . but go to a dealer and you can spend 40k for the same car

They are just used cars, there is no reason for them not to fall in value. I'm seeing new 2007 Corvettes advertised for $39,995, in the newspaper every week. Who wants to pay a preminum for an old car, when you can buy the the latest and greatest for a little more.

I think you'll be waiting a while for a Z06 to get "really cheap". My Z stickered at around $51,000. I can realistically sell it right now for $32,000. So, over 5 years it still holds about 62% of its value. Thats not bad at all.

You don't buy a new Corvette to make money with it, you buy it to enjoy. Maybe in 20-30 years a clean low mileage one will be worth more than was paid new, but who's going to sit around and wait.

I just saw on ebay where a 2006 Z06 with 25K miles here, in DFW, sold for $58,100.

Yea and I would much rather purchase another C5 than the C6. A little mony for the performance factor and you have a car that will wipe up the highway witha C6

New is not always better

Hang in there guys. Has anyone watched the Jackson Barrett auction on speed? 30 to 40 year old vettes fetching $150K plus.
Hang in there by 2035 or 2040 you will get your money out of them.

Hotrod, you have to stop spreading these vicious rumors.......someone has to go into debt and buy new, or how else am I supposed to buy a 2 or 3 year old model for $20K less than new price?????

Me, too, so depreciation doesn't mean as much to me as to others.

The best thing about F-Bodies is the fact they have backseats.

Default Honestly......

If you bought your Corvette as an investment, PLEASE SELL IT NOW!!
And let someone who really appreciates and WANTS TO DRIVE THE CAR
have a chance!!!
I have owned 3 Vettes C3 (1975), C4 (1996) and C5 (1998) and never ever worried about "appreciation or depreciation"
I sold the C4 for under 10 grand (it was definately used!!!)
My C5 is the daily driver (YES, even in the winter) and the '75 is just for the weekends to ENJOY as a CAR, not an investment that I dust once a month and hope some Yahooo will buy so I can make a killing!!
Shame on those who do not enjoy the Corvette for what it was made for TO DRIVE and ENJOY.
Some one on this forum has the signature DRIVE IT LIKE YOU STOLE IT!!! How True!!!
Just my 2Cents.
G.
