Anyone buy their C5 sight unseen?
With all the Vette dealers across the country and there websites, has anybody bought their vette and had it shipped without seeing it? Would you buy this way again?

I sent a check and flew to Chi town to pick up the car and drove it home.
Terrific experience. Even though it snowed a foot between when we headed up and came back.
That was January of 05 and I've put 40,000 trouble free miles on the car since. It's my Daily Driver and occasional track car.

Yes I did. But I don't think my purchase is what you mean. I wanted a "specific optioned car" Ordered it from the local stealer. They couldn't find an existing car. So they ordered from the factory. 6 weeks later I had it. Sales dept. did a fine job. Can't say the same for the sevice dept. I took delivery in Nov. of 2001 on my 2002 vert.

I bought mine on ebay and drove down to inspect it.....not a good idea. Tranny went out, tons of other problems not listed, and still needs work to pass inspection. Just be careful

Bought mine SUS from Florida.. and I'm in CA. Had it shipped out. Couple of things though...
1) I had a 3rd party company inspect the car ($150)
2) It was a dealer that delt in classic / performance cars.
3) I had them pay the shipping charges as part of the deal. (DAL and you can track the driver as he comes across the US)
Never had any problems with the car in almost 2 years.

Bought mine sight unseen last week from American Sportscar in Atlanta. It's due in this Wednesday. I'll let you know then.

I saw mine on Craigslist, flew 500 miles and drove it back. If I hadn't recently been rear ended and without a car I don't think I would have done it.
There are things about the car that lead me to beleive it has been road raced, and I was assured that it had never seen a hard mile. It is hard to do anything about these problems when the seller lives 500 miles away.

I bought mine off of ebay and I would never do it again.
In the future I would only promise to buy the car after I had the chance to physically inspect the car.
Ended up getting $15K back from him through ebay for damages and items listed on car that were not even there.
If I had half a brain at the time, I should of just sent the car back but I had looked for a long time for a low milage navy blue metallic 2001 coupe and once I got, I decided I would just make it into what was suppose to be.
I am getting there.

I bought my 2001 navy blue metallic 6 speed coupe last July on eBay. It had just 6,500 miles on it and was just as described (like new). I felt confident in bidding on the car because of the low mileage. I did inspect the car before handing over the money though. The deal went well for me.

I bought my last one like that. Never again!! It was from a used car dealer who sells only high end cars in Chicago area.
He said it was perfect. When I got it, it had: Bad wheel bearing, 120 rock chips on the bumper, a flat tire, key fob not working, right door lock broken, warped rotors, bad plug wire/engine misfire, top was scraped up.
I waited for 2 months before I found my 01 and im glad I did.

My dealer traded for mine and I never saw it until it arrived at the dealership. It was the other dealer owner's demo car and had 900 miles on it. Car was in perfect shape - so I would be willing to buy like that again.
