Default Cold Weather Driving Experience - Kumho ECSTA MX

Just doing the research on replacing the tires for my '98 and I was wondering if anyone has experience with these tires in the cold. The note on the Tire Rack website suggest these tires shouldn't be driven in cold weather which is a bit of a problem living in Canada.

Thanks...

Just guessing. I would say the tires will not grip very well in the cold. you may need to get winter or all weather type of tires.
I had summer tires when I lived in NJ and had to be extra careful when the temp dropped below 40 degrees. I almost lost it once when I got on it to pass someone.

The Kumho ASX line is rated/formulated for under 50F. That's why I got my set.

Kumho ESCTA MX are a summer rated tire (I think) so seems like a tire to avoid in the north country. Here in Texas we didn't have enough cold weather to matter this past winter. My Kumho ESCTA MXs seem fine considering the mild winters here.

Hello, I lived in Calgary for many years and owned a 73 and a 2000.
The 73 was never a problem in the cold. The run flats on the c5 are poor at best on cold days. I've had the c5 since new and did at one time use nonrun flats they were great. I then moved to Maryland in 05 and had to sell my 73 and decided to drive the c5 so for safety I purchased a new set of run flats, not the good years but I still can't stand the run flats .
