Default 3M Protective Film

Has anyone used that clear protective film on their headlights and front fascia yet? I don't want a bra, but hate the chipping!

Theres alot of guys here using it. I will be getting it done very soon. You just want to make sure you stay with the 3M stuff. The other cheap **** turns yellow.

As for quality and protection? 2nd to none..

I did the whole kit + the rockers myself over 2 years/ 25000 miles ago. Great stuff.

I've had one since I got mine in April. I like it alright, and it sure stops the chipping. The only thing I don't like is there are a few places where the material got stretched during installation due to the extreme curve of the nose. The installer says its a common problem (blowing smoke??) but it does make it look like theres a blemish in the paint in serveral spots. They're very hard to spot though, and over all you really can't tell its there from 10 feet away.

Good stuff. I've had it on for two years and I think it is money well spent, Have it installed by the pros! I would not want to try it myself. They did not install the film on the headlight lens, but it is on the covers.

The only time I ever installed this is to my own car and I do not have these problems. I watched the video (included) twice and started with the easier parts like the headlight covers. As you get a feel for it you move on to the fenders, hood, rear fenders, front bumper and save the killers (mirrors) for last. The entire job took me about 6 hours but that included cutting my own rocker, sill, and painted inner fender lip covers.

I was impressed with the product and found a local shop that used the 3M. The cost was comparable to SPEED LINGERIE. The shop said I couldn't watch the product being applied which left me uncomfortable. This particular shop blade cuts the product on the car...yikes! I asked if that might "harm" the paint...his response was you won't know until you remove/replace the film (4-5 years life expectancy). The other issue was with the liquid (water?) they use to apply the product. On dark cars, the shop said that spots might be visible under the product. I went with a bra, instead. I like the concept but not the unknown.

I had 3M clear bra installed on my dd ('06 Infiniti G35) within the first week of purchase. I know what my previous dd looked like after 8 1/2 years, and wanted to prevent that. This stuff is guaranteed not to yellow. My installer has his computer cut and is ready to install on the car.... no cutting on the car. The install took about 3 hours by a professional. Bye, bye chips.
I drive my Z06 so rarely, I went with a GM bra, which has a great fit.
I couldn't justify another $600 for the Vette that mainly sits in the garage (covered).

I've been meaning to look into something like this to further protect the car. After hearing all the positive comments, sounds like a very good product.

Do they have computer cut kits for the Tigershark front end?

That's a kinder way of stating what I said to the manager...
BTW: The SPEED LINGERIE bra/mirror covers I bought instead has a lifetime warranty...much better deal IMO.

Coming up on 3 years and I love mine...

...Just a thought, but whatever material you have left over can also be used. My installer did the door handles, the door cups (to prevent scratches) and the front of the rocker panels... all with the "left over material".

I had mine done professionally and have been extremely happy with it. I've got an EB Z06 and most people never know it's there until I mention it.

Just checked on a product today, for a "98. VentureShield Paint Protection System. It is a clear film (don't know if it's 3M) which mfr states is "optically clear, twice the strength of leading competitor and lifetime warranty". It is applied with an acrylic adhesive which the mfr says can be removed at a later time, if you desire, without any residue or harm to paint. To cover the entire front bumper, bumper side panels, headlight flaps, hood across between headlights, and mirrors, installer wants $600. Does this sound like a good price? Does anyone else have this particular product installed on their car?
