Default New GS D3 for my Vette.

I replaced my Kumo's that came with the car and wow what a difference!!!! They are so smooth and quiet, I love them! On the way home I noticed that if i let go of the steering wheel it shakes, do you think it's the balancing? if i hold it i don't notice it at all really. I know the mechanic said it was tough balancing one of the tires, it would suck to have to go back.

you should have no shake and they should not be tough to balance. Did the installer put the tires on the Hunter G force machine and match the tire to the wheel.

It would suck to have to go back, but it would suck worse to have to live with that shake for 30,000 miles. You paid them to do the mount and balance; now get back there and make them do it to your satisfaction.

Great tires, BTW... I've got them on my other car and I'll be putting them on the vette when the time comes.

It should be able to be balanced like any other tire. The Hunter 9700 Road Force balance machine may be necessary if there are any slight tire/wheel issues. It's designed specifically for this.

The Hunter 9700 will also tell if the rim is bent or if the wheel is out of round. If any of your wheels have a lot of weight on them to balance them, seek out a Hunter 9700 machine (not the 9600). First I would have the expert the did the first balance do it over again (free) to find the problem, if he can. Find out if he is new at this too.

Good advice already posted. Go on back, or, find an experienced and competent tire servicer that uses the Hunter 9700. Good luck.

Nice choice in tires. I'd sure go back and make sure the shop gets the shake out. If they can't do it right, find one that can.
