Default CLB Reimbursement Denied

As I mentioned in an earlier post, I responded to GM's offer of reimbursement included in the latest "Oops, we goofed up" letter regarding the new column lock recall. I copied my CLB receipt and pointed out that I saved them the cost of a tow truck, and I was not charging anything for my labor to install the CLB!

So anyway, today I got my denial letter. Excluding the PR Bullsh*t, it reads: "We regret that we are unable to reimburse you the amount requested because the part replaced is not the part covered by this recall." It provides a phone # if I have additional questions or concerns.

So, even though this part corrected THEIR faulty design, they're not paying. I am not surprised, I really didn't think they'd go for it, but all it cost me was a stamp. And it gave me an opportunity to tell them how I felt about this whole column lock debacle. It felt good to vent - almost like therapy, lol. I guess I should consider the $49 as my contribution to keep GM out of bankruptcy.....

Seems like it depends on which staff member reviews your claim as to whether it gets paid or not. A little consistency in the review and processing would be nice. On a positive note, at least you don't have to worry about the car locking up on you.

I got a phone call from GM telling me that I was denied reimbursment. I told them I really didn't expect them to do the right thing. I told them that I had fixed the car already with the CLB, and they were not touching the car. I asked the guy if they would be interested in fixing the fuel gage or the rocking seat instead, since I had taken care of the column lock issue. I think I left him with a loss of words.
