2004, 883 miles, 42G, fair offer?
I've been shopping for over two months now (no sense in hurrying, eh?) and a local Chevy dealer has had this loaded 6 speed coupe for at least that long and is asking 42,000 (down from 44,000). I've driven it and it seems fine. Haven't looked at the belly yet, but the skid bars aren't even scratched. I'm used to dealing with very fair private owners so I am at sea when it comes to negotiating with a dealership. What would you offer for this car? I can pay for the car with cash.

My first question would be why does it only have 883 miles? It's almost 2 yrs old and that just doesn't add up. I can speak from experience as mine had 67 miles on it when I bought it and it was a year and a half old. I pinned them down and the car had been shipped to a local community college where they used it to train mechanics on the audio system. That's why the lack of miles. I believe what the college told me and that was if it had been motor or transmission it would have had more "test drive" miles. No reason to test drive when the repairs were on the audio system. Do your homework! Don't be afraid to put the dealership on the spot and talk to others, like I did with the college.
I personally think 42k is a little high as you could have bought that car new for that. At the end of the 04 model year they were cutting huge $$ off. If you have any pricing concerns check kbb.com or edmunds.com and they will give you a better idea of true market value. I bought mine for $15k off of sticker even though it only had 67 miles and 1 1/2 yrs old.
Always remember what my Dad taught me "never fall in love with a car" and whatever you do "don't let the dealer know you love it". Make this a business deal, not a love affair. Good Luck!

I paid $38,600 for my '04 BRAND NEW in '04 with all the year end cash backs.

With the big discount back in 04 you could take 10k of the sticker or more at then end of 04. It almost has 3 years of depreciation on it now. Don't walk from that dealer, run as fast as you can.

Very, very low mileage car, however it's over 2 years old. Not a good buy. 6 months ago I ran across an '04 with 2500 miles on the clock and the dealership was trying to sell it with a new car price....

I know that Corvettes are normally priced high in California, but they are asking a bit much for that one. Should be selling around the mid-30's, maybe a little higher with the low miles and depending on the options. Try to make your deal - if they won't budge, look elsewhere.

KBB says $40,455. Offer the dealer $38,000 and tell him to include a 5 year GM extended warrantee....keep in mind that the new '04s were selling at $10,000-$12,000 below MSRP.........Or, you can get a Brand New 2006 base coupe from Kerberk for $42,500. (MSRP is $45,740) Be sure to let us know how you make out.

Loaded... Good Luck. List on a nice C6 coupe with Heads up and the nice wheels list for 54,000.00. I've been looking and know two friends that have bought I haven't seen any deals for 12,000 off sticker. If you know of any please post

I'd have to agree with the others here - $42K is high on a coupe. I've seen a convertible that has similar mileage - loaded with less than 1K miles, and the asking price is $40K. Remember that convertibles are about $4500 more than coupes new.....
Mid $30's......
