Melting Slicks
That what I run in my Z, I could feel the difference on the first shift-
On the forum It's seems to be a matter of opinion - Royal Purple, Red Line, Amsoil, etc, etc - there are as many opinons on which fluid is best as opinions on which headers are best - I think that there all good, it's matter of preference

The redline fluids are the ones not to use with early model cars.
I'm not sure when they changed to the carbon blockers. maybe some one else know the cut of date.

thanks for the replies
I ran a search on some threads and one guy stated that he had called Tremec and they said 'absolutely not' to use anything but Dexron III. Many of the daily drivers are using other products. Is there any worry about using RP, Redline, Amsoil, Mobil one? I want to feel comfortable about my decision and your input is appreciated. Thanks again

I was told by him that Redline (D4ATE) was best for heavy use, Amsoil might be better for a daily driver in cold weather, Any Dexron three was acceptable.
Now That was straight from the Horses mouth!

If your car is under warranty, consider that the RP Synchromax is not labled to meet Dexron III standards though RP says it is a better fluid for the T56 than their ATF.

Hi The Six -
I have just now ordered Red Line Synthetic D4 ATF in a one gallon jug for $36.69.
I am changing out my trans and diff this week. I went with Red Line after searching and reading - I was leaning toward just buying GM, but when comparing price, I decided to try the Red Line.
I also like Amzoil and I have used it in other cars, and in my one ton truck.
best regards -

I will putting in Dexron VI today. It is a new GM replacement for all previous Dexrons and is the new factory fill as the new models come out, such as the 6 spd autos. It's suppose to excellent for smoothness in manuals. I know of a couple of Vette owners that have tried it, even one who previously had used RedLine. They both had excellent comments on how it shifted. I'll report back once I've driven with it for a while. At this point the only place I could find it was at a GM dealer, but the price was reasonable.
