There is simply no effing doubt that it is just damn expensive to mod a C5. However, the secret is always to be sure to shop around. This effort not only educates and informs you, but, also allows you the satisfaction of procuring the best parts for the best (Lowest) price. Go for it!

Not much of a social bug. That's why I can afford a C5 in the first place.

The fine wine sounds good though. Just can't justify something that only gives me one smile though. A turbo gives you it many times over.

Caught a few threads here and in C5 tech about mods...

Figured I'd start pricing out some parts for next year when I might have more money.

For starters I figure I'd start what everybody recommends for the A4 as a first mod.

3.73 diff-------------------------> $1899

Torque Converter ----------------> $729

That's already $2700

Then the other "cheap" performance mods:

Haltech Stinger intake------------> $339

Kooks X-pipe headers and hi-cat--> $629

Corsa Indy Pace Car--------------> $1229

Just those already are $4825...

EDIT: That's 1/5 of what I paid for my vette.

Maybe instead of next year, it'll be a three or four years.

EDIT: All prices are based on T Bryne Motorsports, who people tell me is a reputable parts dealer.

...and don't forget the Performance Hood Seal.

Not too much (compared to some).

I have circa $45,000 invested in modifications - and I am no where near finished. I probably have another $25-30k yet to go before I'll slow down a bit and Grond will be close to where I want it.

The mods in the pics: ECS Paxton supercharger $6500, Rodney race trans, gears, stall, hardened shafts, coupler, brace etc. $7000, Cam around $1500, headers circa $1800, Stingers $700, coilovers plus T1 sways $2700, stereo circa $4000.

And I installed everything myself (back half is the only exception). So I made massive savings in zero labour charges.

But here's the great thing (for me). My car looks stock. No bling, no chrome, no body mods, no custom paint.....

Not yet
