Default Daily Driver

Hi, I am a current GTO owner and am seriously considering selling my GTO for a C5 corvette, hopefully a Z06. The only things holding me back are one, it will be my only car next to fiancés, and it will be my daily driver. I live in Florida so weather is not a problem. I am just wondering how reliable these cars are and how many other vette owners drive their car to work everyday?

The C5 is a very reliable car and also gets great gas mileage. There are many on this forum that use is as a daily driver. Just get a well maintained one and you should be good to go.

A little stiffer for sure but you'll be fine!

My black '99 coupe has been my DD since I bought it new in 1999. It's been the best all-around car I've ever owned.

Mine has been my daily driver for at least a year.

Mine has been my DD for the past 3 years and 40,000 miles. Never a problem, and a great stress relief after work!

Ironic, a couple of months ago I was considering getting a GTO as a DD. I was going to trade my Trailblazer though. I love driving the Vette but it isn't my DD. It would do very well as an everyday car though.

Thanks for the responses!
Good to know! I looked at one today and fell in love (with C5's not the one I looked at it was overpriced and most likely an abused dealer model.) However, I am also considering keeping the GTO and getting a Yamaha R-1 for speed. I guess it depends on what happens first someone buys my GTO or I find a good deal on a R-1.......

My Z06 is my daily driver.
Works out great.
I just get to wash it more.

You will also get better gas milage then the GTO.

Go for it. The C5 is actually a very comfortable and reliable car for use as a daily driver. Gas mileage is good and what better way to go for the commute than with America's sports car.

The only think I can think of is not C5... but Z06 (6 speed actually) specific.

If you live in areas of heavy congetstion, you might want to be carefull which clutch you install. A lot of the high performance options are really bad in stop-and-go traffic

I have a 2004 GTO
http://forums.corvetteforum.com/show...00&forum_id=24

As of now, the comminute to work is only 1.5 miles, but that will most likely change when my current lease ends in a few months.....I will do a lot of driving on the weekends around Florida for business, but is mostly highway…..

Mine's a DD in Chicagoland, and we get some nasty weather here. Not a problem as a DD.

They are both LS engines. Probably the same reliability factor overall.

2000 here and I drive it every single day and I love it. I rather take my car than my wife's but can't fit the little one in it, but the car is awesome, you will never regret it! Went from a 1999 Z28 to my 2000 Coupe and it was the BEST thing I have ever done when it came to car purchases!

That does it! When it stops raining I'm going to get mine out for a trip to the beach. Spring Break begins this weekend, you know.

Plus our Vettes look better than the new GTO and more fun to drive, mine was a DD until I decide on going to a Sick HP setup
