On my "R" Vette went from stock GY 17" and 18" runflats to Michelin Pilots on Ronal 18" and 19" wheels.
On the daily driver I have Continental tires, stock sizes.
In both cases, quieter and handles better.

The runflats got significantly better gas mileage, 3 mph better (10% increase around 28 mpg).
There is a water based fix-a-flat that is not suppose to ruin tire pressure sensors, I forget who makes it.
The Z06 kit will ruin sensors (Z06s have no sensors) , besides it costs like $250.

Consider this. Even the original Good Year EMT tires are quiet when new. They start to make noise after 6000 miles. At 12000 they are horrid. This is my experience from pleasure driving....not one burnout.
Anyone replying to this thread......your opinion should include how many miles of wear are applied to your opinion.
I've heard Firestone makes Corvette run flat tires that are quiet and stay quiet throughout their thred life. I will be trying them as my next set.
I don't recall what Firestone calls them.

like i posted in my original reply to this thread, i have em and they are tons quieter than the GY's. my parents still have GY's on their 23k mile 02 coupe and they are a ton noisier. i have gone through about 10 or so tires now (shh no questions asked) and throughout the life of the tire the noise never increased like it does w/ GY's

The ContiComfortKit combines a powerful, high-volume, 12-volt air compressor, integral pressure gauge and a latex liquid tire sealant packaged in a compact, lightweight unit that's easy to store in the vehicle. (Kit is 9.5"W x 7"H x 3.75"D.) The sealant is compatible with direct, valve-mounted tire pressure sensors since the sensors can be washed and adhering residue can be peeled off easily when the tire is repaired.

100% correct. When I replaced the rear Goodyear RFs with Michelin RF's I was amazed at the noise reduction. Now, 9,000 miles later, the Michelins are just about as noisy as the the Goodies were.

The article was in Corvette Enthusiast, March 2006 edition. The article was excellent! I recently changed from Goodyear runflats to the Michelin Sport A/S zp on my 2001 C5. The ride is smooth and quiet as compared to Goodyear. The article referenced listed the following pros for runflats: no spare needed, better mileage, better cornering, no blowouts/flats. The cons listed were: nosier, harsh ride, slower 0-60 and more expensive. The pros of inflatables were: softer rider, quieter, faster 0-60 and less expensive. The cons were: les mileage, can go flat, slower cornering and tire repair kit or road service card required. Enjopy the ride!!!

(IMO) If I had a new c6 I would still wait till the tires were used for a couple of years or 10 - 12k miles before I dumped them. Maybe it is just me but I hate to waste money. I think I would look into a FROST KING MOD first then replace the tires after I got some good use out of them. Also from what I read the new run flats were quieter than the old ones. But maybe that was all just hype.

We just replaced the GY runflats with Kuhmo runflats. You can really tell a big difference in a reduction of road noise. We've never put non-RF's on the vette so can't compare with anything in that respect. I would imagine that the non-runflats are quieter but for us the difference isn't that great. We still like the piece of mind of not having to worry when taking extended road trips with the runflats.
Kuhmos are definitely much nicer than the GY's.
Our two cents...for what it's worth.

I just took off the G/Y runflats. They had less than 6000 miles. From mile one they where loud. I put on the Kumho a/s tires after reading alot of reveiws. The differance was amazing, I now here a small amount of wind noise. Cool !!! The ride is also a huge improvment. I've put on a Blackwing and Zo6 exhaust. Both are great, but getting the G/Y runflats off and the Kumhos on. Is the most pleasing change that I have made. All I can say is GO FOR IT!!!

When I took off my original Goodyear EMTs, I went with a set of Goodyear Supercar F1s. Yes, they did away with a lot of the road noise, the car handled better and rode much better. I now have a set of Michelin Pilot Sport IIs ready to go on - not sure how they will be but those that have them really seem to like them.
