im dropping my z06, what do i need to lower the car on stock springs and shocks. please let me know, is there a write up or any info. thanks guys.

Nothing, just some tools. You're only going to be turning the bolts. If you want go lower than 3/4-1", you'd need long bolts in the back and cut the bushings up front.

There's a huge number of threads on this, look in the sticky or search in the roadracing and autocross section, you should be able to find a coulple and get what you need...

Just don't be too greedy in the back or you can find yourself bottoming the stock rear shocks and get some very weird handling.

WRONG!!!!!! There is a HUGE misconception on the forum that to lower the rear longer bolts are needed, this is incorrect, you can simply cut the bushing in the back as you would the front to lower the back.

I have seen people buy longer bolts at home depot for $7 and i have even see vendors selling longer bolts for $35

Right, but it can only go so much by cutting the rear bushings. My car is lowered at least 2" in the back, and there's no way I could've gone that low without a longer bolt in the back.

I cut 2/3 of the bushin and tightened the bolt, with the original wheels (18 X 10.5 and original goodyear F1's) i could barely fit 2 fingers in there, and my fingers arent fat fingers.

thanks for the writeup and all the info, if i decide to cut the bushings can i do this with all suspension componets still intact in the wheel well? i think im just going to do a 3/4-1" drop becuase i already rub sometimes with the tire spit skirt.

I can't fit my index finger in between the fender well and the rear tire straight if I'm tryin to touch the top of the rear tire. When I first lowered it, the rear tires were tucked under I had to raise it back up.

Believe it or not the rear bushings are there for a reason.
I would never cut them. Spend $7 and do it right.
You will only get about a 3/4"-1" drop in the front so why would you want to lower the rear 2"? It looks bad in my opinion to lower the rear a lot more than the front.
You need to keep the factory rake of the car which means keep the same difference in height front to rear after you lower the car as you had before.
Take before measurements. I don't mean with your fingers. Measure it with a tape measure and write them down.
Then lower the front as far as possible and the rear as far as possible keeping the same rake.
Drive it for a few days and see how you like the look. Adjust from there.

On my 1st 97 coupe I cut the bushings in the rear it made the car kinda bounce in a bad way. It rode pretty harsh. Buy the bolts for $7.00 and lower car that way

Who said you can only drop 1" on the front? I got my front to drop alot more than 1".

I cranked mine down on the stock bolts WITHOUT cutting anything and got like just a tiny bit shy of 1" front and a solid 1" on the rear maybe 1/16th more .. now granted this final number came about after some settle time ( 3 days of driving 100 miles ) and some readjustment to make sure sides were equal etc.

Of the 10 or so corvettes I have lowered I have never seen over a 1" drop in the front.
