Default TSB on Exhaust Jingle....are dealers required to fix under warranty?

Title say's it. I have a 2003 Z06. In particular, the exhaust jingle that is in the H pipe? Any experience with dealers on this one?

I took my 04 Z06 into the dealer for the jingle and they told me that it was normal. i tried to explain that the jingle WAS normal because chevy did not have a fix for it the past i don't know how many years. but now that there is a fix they need to take care of it. they insisted that it was normal and would not do the TSB. So i just went out and bought a magnaflow x-pipe and the jingle is gone and my stingers sound so clean. guess it worked out after all.

I also have a 2003 Z06, and had the exhaust jingle. I took the Dealership tech for a ride to let him hear it and he said "oh yeah, we call that poker chips in a jar" (which really is a good take on what it sounds like on deceleration). They fixed it under TSB, but maybe there are different approaches here in Canada? Happy to fax you my repair order if you like to use as ammunition with your Dealer.

I worked at nissan dealers for the last 12 years. A TSB is just to inform the tech of problems. If the vech is still under warranty they can fix it. But it is not the same as a recall, where they have to fix it even out of warrant.

Thanks for the comments. Here is what happened at the dealership. Left work just planning on checking the parts counter for some touch up paint, no luck there. Figured might as well check with the service folks on the exhaust jingle will I was there.

First of all I was in shock with the service I received at RK Chevrolet in Va Beach. Pulled up into one of 3 empty lanes for service. Sign says "stay with your car", OK I did. Asst Service manager comes out in 30 seconds. I tell I not dropping the car just had a question. I told him about the TSB, he got on the radio...............SCOTT, can you come out an listen to a vehicle? 30 seconds later here he comes. I spoke to him about the TSB, he was familular with it. Went back and look up the part, put it on order and said we will call in a week when the part gets in and it will be covered under warranty.

I was pretty impressed, considering I took a oath not to ever go back to RK's after I took a vette for a test drive 6 years ago. Man they are a bunch of rude vulchers there. They are like ticks on a dog. I wouldn't buy a car there for any reason because of the vulchers.

I think he meant to leave a link. I have the same jingle. I figure that the longer I listen to it the more I will want to replace it with the Titanium Corsa Street Kit.

I actually went to the NHTSA site and found 3 TSB #'s that seem to apply:

00197c
01398
09062002
