Default Homelink Transmitter in Sun Visor

C5 Creations is offering a after market Homelink transmitter. You send them your visor and in a couple of weeks they send it back with a three-button, programmable Homelink system to open your garage door, gate, whatever. I've got Homelink on my Suburban and love it.

Anyone done this? Did the system fit without making the visor so thick it doesn't fit/close right on a Vert? Is it actual Homelink brand and work OK?

I did this myself but installed it in the center footwell area on the drivers side, about where my right knee rest. The advantage here was that I was able to wire it into the power from the cig. lighter and it was easier to cut a small hole in my carpet as opposed to removing, disassembling, and then re-sewing my visor. Bought one off of ebay for $50.00 (removed from some Chrysler vehicle). It works flawlessly, and if you didn't know it was there you would never notice it. Very convenient

I had them install one on my convertible during the 2004 Corvettes@Carlisle event. They had visors already done at the show and just exchanged mine for one of theirs.

It doesn't make the visor any thicker. The only thing that is added is a small oval on the side facing you with the visor up, positioned in the upper right-hand corner.

Yes, it's a Homelink brand and it works just fine.

This was a great mod. I bought a tan colored homelink off Ebay for $15 and a can of black vinyl spray paint at a local parts store. 10 minutes to remove the visor from the car, 1 hour to cut the stitching, cut the fiber board inside and sew it up by hand. 5 minutes to reinstall in car. It does not make it look any thicker than before. Here's a pic of mine and a how-to link.

I put mine in the passenger visor easier to see, I don't focus too good 2 inches from my head.

Thanks for the input. Great writeup and pictures! I think I'd like to look for a second visor in case I blow the install.

This forum is amazing. No matter what question I come up with someone has an answer.

WOW, this is a great tutorial. This saves people $150 of what the vendor charges.
PLEASE SUBMIT this as a C5 Tech TIP!

This is a feature that should have been stock from the factory like it was on my other car - a 2000 year model - 4 years older than my vette!

That's what I did. As a matter of fact I took my donor visor, the homelink visor (from a 2005 Monte Carlo) to my local auto upholsterer and he did the whole transplant in a few hours and charged $30.

Did it myself. Bought the homelink from a Forum member, opended up the visor, wired it (simple), glued it in place and BINGO! Its a great mod and simply DIY if you're inclined. You can pick up the homelink from auto salvage yard as well.

Cost me $40.00 on ebay for the unit, and 45 minutes of my time. One of the best mods to date.

I had them install one in my convertible at one of the NCM events. It is a stock visor with a real homelink transmitter, not any thicker than stock. Couldn't be happier. Gary

Oh great. Now we'll all be bidding against each other on eBay and driving the prices up.

I think I'll wait a bit.

(I'm thinking economics, but my wife still calls it procrastination)
