FAQ post # 19 has a very good thread to read about this. I'd also do a search, as you can imagine this is a much discussed and debated topic.

Had the balckwing and just installed the vararam. Much happier with the vararam. Fit wasnt bad either. I liked how the rivets near the opening in the front had a little play in it so its easier to get it where it needs to go. Install wasnt bad either once you got it goin. Took me about an hr to install. And the best part is no more surging issues. Big difference on the highway. I like my vararam.

Default okay..down to 2 now

I'm leaning towards the Vortex rammer now because the Callaway is WAAY more expensive. $400 more!

so its Callaway Honker vs Vortex Rammer...decisions decisions.

what do you guys think?

Kos, check out this link: http://forums.corvetteforum.com/show...er&forum_id=53

Brand new Honker for $450 shipped. If I didn't have an almost new TRAP on my Z, I think I'd have to bite on the Honker. Only intake that relocates the MAF - interesting concept (and I believe what GM is doing on the C6). Good luck with your decision.

I have the LPE 500HP heads and cam package. LPE recommended the hurricane system and I am very happy how it performs.

To answer your question though, probably the Vararam.

Can some one point me to the "zip tie mod" ??? That is a new one on me but then again I haven't had the C5 that long. Never heard of this on the C4.

thanks, Graham

HP Tuner scan showed gains over the Vararam B2 in my '04 Z with the Callaway Honker...gotta love that!

Vararam here, and probably the Honker will be real close as a leader in performance also. Check out the thread fastest 1/4 times for Z06's and 80/90% of the top 30 are running a Vararam, now if that dosen't speak for itself...

How did you figure the Honker is $400 more than the Vortex? The Honker costs me $490 from Callaway. If you purchase the Vortex intake and an airbridge you will have spent at least the same amount, if not more, to duplicate the pieces the Honker will replace. It is a much higher quality part and it is the only intake to relocate the MAF as GM has seen fit to do on the C6.

I've got one on order an am waiting for delivery. Would've bought the Honker but's a bit expensive. I don't think that there would be that big of a difference between the two setups. A cold air intake is a big improvement over anything that uses underhood air. What I did like about the Honker is that there are no exaggerated claims of 40hp, same with the Hurricane. Do you know how much you gained in the 1/4 mile?

I like all three. However, the only one that I was able to compare with the original piece was the Vortex. My 98 went from 13.3@107 to 13.0@110 with that change at Carlsbad Raceway in So. Andy put my stinger in too. Between a dyno and the stinger, we found an extra 25 hp. The car was need of a tune badly
