AVIC-N1 or N2 install in HVAC slot?
Has anyone installed an N1 or N2 in the HVAC slot and moved the HVAC controls up?
1. will the screen hit the auto shifter?
2. Do the HVAC controls fit in the the radio slot without much modification?

Want it up
Don't want to move it down I have my radar detector installed there. I thought I saw an installation with it moved up so when the screen comes out it doesn't block the air vent.

Here's my Panasonsonic install. The screen barely touches the shifter when it's in park. No problem fitting and moving things around. I did relocate the center bar of the trim piece between the two to make up for opening size differences.

I had my Kenwood 915 installed in the stock radio location. Very nice being able to just glance over at the screen while using the Nav (or watching a DVD or TV) rather than looking down and also more convenient when using the touch screen in the high mount location. Major problem however (as the pic illustrates) is the fact that it does completely block the air vent. I am in the process of reconfiguring the dash layout and switching to the Kenwood 715.
