Can't Sleep!
Its 5:15 am on a Sunday and been up every 20 min all night! You might ask why? I spent the last week with the C-5 tires off and in the air doing some major cleaning to the wheel wells, painted the calipers, shot the exhaust in hi temp black, and scrubbed the heck out of the inside of the rims. Put tires back on last night, rolled it out of the garage and gave her a good bath. Decided to head for Woodward for the major cruise of the year hear in Detroit. I was stopped at a light and looked in my rear veiw mirror and seen a woman approaching very fast with a panic look on her face! Yea before I could hit the gas she slammed into me and pushed me about 30 feet into the intersection. I was supprised how well the car did, I was expectiing allot more damage. My exhaust is about 4 inches shorter, the backend is scuffed, reverse lights are broke, the trunk will not pop open, and you can read the word pontiac in reverse in my back end! She seams to be driving ok, but what other kind of hidde damage should I expect to find later???

Man, I am really sorry to hear about the accident. I feel your pain. We work so hard to keep these cars perfect and then some inattentive driver smashes into our cars. I haven't had it happy to me in my Vette, but have had two other rear enders in Jeep Cherokees I used to own. In one instance, the kid that smashed into me was on his way home from the body shop after just having his car fixed after his prior accident. Anyway, I wouldn't be sleeping if I was you either. I understand how you feel. I can't help you out on what you can expect, but I've seen other posts after accidents of your type and the guys that responded were well informed as to what to expect. But, as this is life and this kind of crap happens, get it fixed and move on. Life is too short to obsess about that which we have no control over. Hopefully, no one was hurt. Best of luck to you! Sorry to hear about that! But, remember, it is just a car no matter how much you love it and baby it. The important thing is that you both were not hurt at all.
I didnt even attempt to goto the dream cruise, because of the chance of getting in an accident. Its more like a 50,000 car parking lot on woodward than a cruise. Alot of the local vette owners go down there, but I bet better than half dont take their cars.

Man, that really really SUCKS! Glad you're not hurt. You'll get it fixed and it will be like new. Just take it to a good body shop. If you don't already have a body shop, ask the forum members in your area to recommend one. Good Luck.

Sorry to hear about your Vette. When I read your title, I thought you were going to say you could sleep because you were picking up your new Vette that day. I went to the Woodward crusie a couple of yrs back....talk about a great time Seen cars I only had dreamed of before then.

Sorry to hear about the wreck.
Inattentive driving seems to be one of the most prevelant causes of accidents these days. Last year a lady hit my C4 while I was making a right turn because she cut a beeline across the intersection rather than making a proper left turn. (she was cited for making an inproper left turn) It was in the broad daylight. The about a month ago some jackass ran into me in my wife's Blazer at a stop sign because he was talking on a cell phone and not paying any attention to his driving. (he was also cited for failure to maintain control.) I am of the belief that one of the reasons Corvette insurance rates are not too high may be that most Corvette drivers enjoy driving their car, so they are paying more attention to driving than eating, talking on a cell phone, doing makeup, etc. The result is a lower accident rate. (just a theory though)

Sorry to hear about your bender. I know how you feel as this happened to me several months back. My C5 ended up needing the rear bumper cover, supports, left quarter and entire rear pan (fiberglass unit that goes from the behind the seats to the rear bumper) replaced. Since you go pushed so far forward, hopefully your car didn't absorb all the energy of the impact. I got pushed under a Mustang, so my car had to absorb most of the energy from the impact.
