Need to hit 425 rwhp on my bolt on Z and which cam will do it!
425 rwhp is my magic number that I HAVE TO HAVE as that gives me 500 at the CRANK and I NEED 500 at the CRANK to keep me away from that new Z for several years. I have all the aggressive bolt ons listed in my sigs and for now must likely will stay with stock LS6 heads.
I know several here have hit that magic number i am looking for and I the the LGM G5X3 is a STOUT cam. Keep in mind this is going to be a daily driver where i put on between 12 to 15K miles a year on my Z and i need a RELIABLE SET UP!! I like the LOPEY HOT ROD SOUND and know others have had success with grinds in the area of 232/234, .590 to .600 lift on a 112 or 113 lsa.
I don't want to flycut the pistons and was wondering what the new bad boy streetable cam for stock headed LS6 motors are these days and if you hit the numbers I am looking for on a bolt on Z please let me know the cam specs by way of this post or IM!!
THANKS GUYS &LET THE SICKNESS BEGIN!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

YES, I would be VERY HAPPY with the 430 you pulled as that=the peak HP of the new Z06 (505 HP at the crank) and I will take a real close look at the cam specs you showed me as they are nice and streetable and not overly BIG at all!

Well I was going to say MIKE did it!!!! But he already posted :P
I have seen his car yet since the cam but I know that should put you past your numbers goal. Those numbers though are probably the MINIMUM you will need to have a shot at the new Z. Drivetrain loss tends to be about 15% in our cars which means you would need 429RWHP. I also would have to guess the power band is stronger under the curve on a 427 than a cammed LS6......... Just get the bottle......it will keep you fine for daily driving :P

You can do it.
def. obtainable . I put down 422 rwhp and 376 torque. I dynoed on a 95 degree day. alittle cooler and alot mroe hp would of been shwon. I have stage 3 cam from tt performance which was done amazing. Great work by them. Its called stage 3 equalizer package. I ahve 1 7/8 kook headers with off road x-pipe. Corsa exhaust, granitelli intake with coupler. Short shifter. Thats all i have for performance mods. If i ut 90mm throttle body, lsx intake manifold, i will have 450 almost or more.

I just installed a cam and got 430RWHP (STOCK LS6 HEADS)
and the car drives the same just more power, I do have an Idle issue that needs to be corrected we have it tuned to hang up and then drop down, at first it bothered me, now it's ok

The power curve on a 427 should be stronger
That's why I have a bottle coming

Just add a little "juice" and make your worries fly away!!! Getting ready to add the cam in my sig Aug. 6th and will let you know after Norris Motorsports tunes it. Hoping to be in the 420 range off the bottle and well over 550 with it.

Everyone fears what they don't know. It's part of life.
A few years ago, NO ONE would have put a turbo or supercharger on an 10.5:1 compression engine, but just stop by the FI section and plenty do it now! Funny how things change when the mystery is taken out.
I respect your opinion for your car 100%, but wonder what you base the statement on...
PS - running low on oil or coolant is the most dangerous for your engine, but these are monitored... Oh, so is my nitrous system!

Not looking for any debates pro I just personally am not a N20 Guy probably primarily b/c i like to have the power there 100% of the time as part of the engine everytime i put the pedal to the metal.

If you look at my sig. I am doing it on stock heads. Note the torque with Kooks LT's. Mods. coming are AFR heads and FAST LSX intake.
This is SAE corrected too.

zo6vetteman2003, your cam was my other choice, but going with the next size up. How is the idle sound? I bet it is cool with the 112 LSA. Nice numbers with it. I have seen similar numbers posted here with that cam on another Z (the person had SuperMaxx though), so it seems like a VERY good choice without beating the valve train with a huge lift.

15% of 405 (stock) hp = 345 rwhp (about the AVG dyno of a stock Z06...give or take), or a 60 hp parasitic loss. Based on that assumption 425 + 60 = 485??
What am I missing? You're not calculating based on 15% of 500 hp are you?
