Default Seats get HOT!!

My 2000 vette has the wonderful black base/z06 seats I don't mind the comfort, but I just get so hot/sweaty when I drive with the top off. I drove around for an hour in 85 degree weather and both the passenger and myself had damp shirts when we got out of the car! Are there any seat covers that breath better and don't get as hot? I noticed that the sport seats have small holes in the leather, for the guys with those seats does that seem to help the seats breath better so you don't as hot/sweaty? Thanks for the help.

What year did they start putting seat heaters in C5s? And where are the on/off controls?

I have the Sport seats in black and the same exact thing happens to me. I think it has alot to do with the fact that they are black leather seats. I have never driven or ridden in a Vette with the base black leather seats, but i'm sure the tiny holes aren't a huge improvement over what you have.

Seat heaters ha! I need seat coolers. Does anyone use either of these? Do they still get hot? Thanks.

You can get a set of the Wet Okoles seat covers - they fit great, look and will make the ride more comfortable when it is that hot.

I never really liked seat covers, but a nice thick bath towel always worked for me. There are not many days when I needed the towel and the other days I had the sport seats showing.

if you'd quit riding buck naked it wouldn't be a problem! (just kidding). truthfully, we have a coupe w/ black sport seats & when it's hot, we take the bath---sometimes as someone else noted, we'll run the air w/ the top open. now that i think about it, if it was cold out, we'd run the heat to stay warm with the top off (weather permitting). bub

I made sure my optional seat heaters were off on my sport seats and took a 30 minute ride without the top. My shirt was damp. I should have had the AC running which would have helped a lot. I would suggest seat covers !

Went to church yesterday in the Vette... had the roof off all the while. Came back and sat down and almost got 3rd degree burns on my legs through my pants. HOT HOT HOT!!

And that was while I almost burned my right elbow resting it on the center console.

The price we pay...

Having had quite a number of British sports cars, American convertibles, a Porsche and now a couple of Corvettes, I just have to shake my head in amazement when I see someone bombing around in ANY car with the top off in the middle of the day during the summer. For me, the best top off times are mornings and evenings in the summer and mid-day in spring and fall. The A/C does help, a bunch!
