Problems opening and closing vert top

Problems opening and closing vert top
Hi all,
I posted the above under locking bars with no replys.
I probably did not explain it well.
There are two metal bars, one on each side, that slide over on each side with one locks the top down. These are the same ones that unlock.
Our 2004 vert is Very hard to unlock the top and also to unlock it.
Has any one had the problem and if so, was the dealer able to solve it for you?
Thanks in advance.
Tom

My '04 vert's locks are firmer than our Sebring vert even though the Vette has rollers on them and the cheap Chrysler is a friction deal. Are your rollers turning freely?

We had a Transam and it had a metal bar on each side that locked it.
I assumed that the Vette was the same and apparently I am wrong.
Thanks for the reply.
Our is so very hard to open that it hurts my wife's hands. It is her car.

I didn't know they had rollers either.
With the vert top down, check the handles and make sure they are moving freely. They should be very easy to move from the open to the closed position. If they are binding, there is a problem.
When you are trying to secure the front of the Vert top, it'll be a little tougher because you want the top to secure tightly.
I have no problem securing the Vert top but it can be quite a challenge for my girlfriend.

Mine work fine.. I'm thinking that your locks need an adjustment to loosen them up. Only problem is that it may cause more wind noise when the top is up..
Good luck..

This might be a silly question but, do you move the visors out of the way then first pull down on the levers so they are at an angle to the windshield header before pulling/pushing them open/closed?
Your wife will get a better grip on the levers this way making them easier to rotate left or right.

Of course, you are correct about being able to get a better grip.
Thanks for the follow up.

"Hard" is a pretty nebulous term Tom. Mine are stiff, and when it was new it was VERY stiff, but it was still doable (I can't comment on what my wife would have done with them when it was new). But I suspect that it is ok the way it is. Use them more often and see if they ease up.

I hate to take it in to the dealer unless necessary.
My wife had an operation on her hands and because of this, it is somewhat painful for her.
I am going to try what another forum member suggested tonight when she comes home from work.
Check the levers with the top down and see if they are hard to open and close.
