The C5 is an extremely capable car and yada, yada, yada....but when it comes to the COOL factor then I just have to go with the big block C2s...hands down

Here's the new king:
....and here's why:
The 427 is back in a Corvette. The all new 7.0-liter V-8 is the largest small block ever produced by GM, and with the 505/475 numbers it is also the most powerful engine to grace a GM passenger car. To save weight, the engine uses titanium connecting rods, pushrods and valve springs. There’s a 11.0:0 compression ratio and a redline that pushes 7000.
Needless-to-say, this baby will blow away any factory Corvette that ever existed - waaaay cool. (But I still love my Maggie!)

For cool, nothing beats a mid-year 'Vette. However, I believe the C5 will be judged historically as a very significant generation for the Corvette. It's my vote for number 2!

I Wanted a 67 coupe so bad, then I wanted a 69 Ttop, then I had to have a 73, then I test drove an 88 and wanted that real bad, then I saw my first 97 C5 and OMG did I want one! 36 years after lusting over that white with blue interior 67 coupe I actually bought my 1st Vette. I now have a blue 87 and a blue 02 and would gladly own any of the above generations and if forced to I would happily accept a C6 esp. a Z06, even though I haven't totally warmed up to the looks. The C5 did give me the same "in Love at first sight" feeling that the others did and I think its design will be timeless.
