Really dumb???????????? Do hot tires yield a better E/T in the 1/4 than cold tires? So, in light of your comment...... Yes, how do you do a burn-out?

Can of Gasoline And a Match
Does anyone besides me remember the days of the FIRE BURNOUTS! They finally got banned at all the tracks but you can still find photos on the web. Bleach burnouts went the way of the dinosaur too. I just break hard, hit the gas and hold it there till it feels right, let off the brake and shoot up towards the staging lights. Don't go past them though or you'll look like a Dweeb! (Unless your running alcohol or Nitro)

Assuming you're running the stock TC, turn TCS off, manually select 1st-gear, left-foot brake just enough to stop the car from moving forwards whilst simultaneously giving it gas. At some point below ~2,000rpm, the rear wheels will overcome the rear brakes and begin spinning; at this point, release the brake and hammer the throttle and enjoy the burn-out (I wouldn't recommend bouncing off the limiter... just modulate the throttle to keep the wheels spinning). Probably best to wait until your rear tyres need changing cuz practice makes perfect Also, try to find a wide open space until you've perfected your technique... you don't the rear of the car fish-tailing and suddenly hooking-up sending you barelling into the nearest curb/hedge/ditch/oncoming traffic!

That is one thing that 6-speeds give you. The ability to do an effortless awesome burn out. With mine rev it to about 3,000rpm and simultaneously floor the gas, and release the clutch. It never gets old, until I checked my tread depth, and realized I'm going to have to buy tires again this summer. Damn, I bought tires last summer. With an Auto hold the brake hit the gas, and release the brake after you get the tires spinning.

I would invest in a line lock. I don't know how they work in the vette but my Grand National has one and it makes it nice. You know it is kinda funny when you have an 18 year old V-6 that will out run a 3 year old vette.
