New take on the C6 shifter **** in a C5!!
I wanted to give everyone a look at a project that was inspired by the C6 shifter write-up by Patches (once again Ed - you are the man!), and fulfilled by a quick purchase from fellow forum member gst20psi (www.stores.ebay.com/GSCreationsLLC) and cusomized by the skill and precision of Ken King.
Once I saw Patches' post I knew I wanted a C6 shifter ****, but I didn't want to give up the B&M shifter I've grown to love. So after hearing about the C6 shifter ***** being modified to fit the C5, I went and got one. After getting it in and installing it I immediately fell in love with the feel of the **** and the overall refinement vs. the 'chocky' C5 **** I took off. However, the color of the leather on the C6 **** doesn't really match the black of the C5 interior and I have a mod-red interior, so it pretty much threw off the entire color scheme.
So - I did the only thing reasonable in a situation like this - call the one and only expert in this field. Ken King glady accepted the challenge, and after shipping him the ****, he turned it around and shipped it back to me with a new 'test boot' to help him determine the fit and sizing. I've shopped with Ken on several occasions, and I must say that he has certainly outdone himself with this ****... the color match is perfect to the C5 **** and leather, and the quality of stitching and workmanship is second to none. We're still working on the boot sizing and fitment, but at this point, it's dang-near spot on. I must say, that it has turned out great, and I now have my mod-red interior back along with the C6 ****!!
Please lemme know what you think!

That's the only thing I hate about having an automatic.... not being able to put cool shift ***** on mine...
Looks like you got it done right. Very sharp.

Just for reference, here's how the stock C6 **** looks on a Hurst shifter.
The camera flash does make the color mismatch more pronounced than it really is.

www.vetteessentials.com. Go to the site and see more examples of his work - the quality speaks for itself.
Nice interior, lets see some pics of the rest of the car.
Thanks for the good words, MyBlueC5 and Blackbelt!
Ed - thanks especially to you, man... I really wouldn't have considered the possibility of this mod had you not made the post you did... I did set in a 6-speed C6 at the dealership and loved the shifter, but didn't really think that it could be possible to do the retro-fit of the shifter or the ****. Hats off to you, man!

Hey Robert how is everything going?
I didn't think there was anything left on your car to mod!
The shifter looks great, good pics and nice write-up.
How's the new house?
Are you guys planning on getting down to HHI this year?
Keep in touch,
Rock

Hey man, good to hear from you! You know - just when I thought I was done moddin'.... poof - more stuff to do! The car just keeps getting better and better!
New house is wonderful - we're out in the country and away from the city, so I'm breathing much easier and the quality of life has improved dramatically. We just had our first baby a few weeks back (little girl) so we are caught up in that hectic scene right now.
I doubt we'll make it down this year, but next year for certain. The baby will be old enough to stay with grandparents, and Jackie and I will be needing to get away for a bit - we'll look you up for sure!! Hope you're enjoying HHI... I know I would be if I were in your situation! Take care!
