My buddys C6 vs my C5 in the 1/4 mile track
My buddy just bought a bran spanking new 2005 C6 auto, coupe with the largest gears I think they are 3.15s and he dose not have the upgrade rotors or suspension. So he said lets take it to the ¼ mile track and he seems pretty confident. I have a 99 FRC 6-speed odiously that’s putting down 323.92 hp and 328.50 torque to the rear wheels. I’ve only ran on the 1/8th mile track twice and my numbers where
.905
2.116
5.741
8.626 1/8
84.49 mph
Now I know with a little more practice I could probably get it down to maybe 8.4 so who do you think will win? And my buddy has raced on a ¼ mile track before.

The C6's are barely getting beat by the stock Z06's which is your body style with roughly 345rwhp+or-....So i'm thinking the C6 may just take you...work on your 60' and get a few mods!

Burning Brakes
In addition to driving skill I think the difference will be tires.
I assume he is on stock runflats, which i believe are better than the c5 stock runflats. I am told by several c6 owners I met at a track that they still do not have the traction of a good non-runflat.
If you have some serious rubber on the rear I think you can take him.
good luck. always pulling for the c5

My opinion is that it may be close for now,,,
Your engine is broken in and "loose" at this point.
the LS1/LS6 engines dont fully show their potential until 4500 miles im told. The more miles he puts on his car, the faster it will get. Try to get him to the track while that baby is still fresh and he's learning to drive it. Your chances will be better

I beat a C6 MN6 with my 2000 A4 in the 1/4, but only with a great holeshot and his lack of traction. He ran quicker and faster, but I got there first!
I don't think I stand a chance with an automatic C6.

Heads up race, if you both have the same RT I say he probably takes you buy maybe two car lengths. Sure as heck does not mean you can not win. Hit a good RT with a great launch its a race pal.

Wow i thought it would be alittle closer. but i dont have the runflats anymore, but my buddy dose want to break in his car first so maybe while im waiting I will buy the LG motorsport long tube headers ive had my eye on maybe that will bring in into my favor.

I am not so sure it is this clear cut - The bone stock, non tuned automatic is not the best shifting thing out there. I think it will be a damn close race. If you wanted to hedge your bet, you could add those long tubes and a few other mods - not having run flats will help you a lot.
Please post the results if you two go at it!
