Default Wrong to put C6 wheels on a C5?

I have an appointment on Saturday to get new wheels installed at Corvettes of Houston. I need to know what you guys think. Here's the story...

Torch Red 1998 Convertible with tan leather / tan top. It has chrome wagon wheels on it now. I'm not a big fan of the wagon wheels. I want to change to either the C5 chrome wheels or the C6 chrome wheels. Is it wrong to put C6 chrome wheels on a C5? I want to know what you guys think. I really like the looks of the C6 wheels. I know myself and I'll have this "complex" attending functions / events if I think real Corvette guys are making fun of me for putting C6 wheels on a C5. I know it should be what I like but I do care about what others think of my vehicles as I am sure most of you do.

Does anyone have a picture of a C5 wheels C6 wheels? If so, please share it with me.

I appreciate your feedback.

Thanks!

Mitch

Even though I love the look of the C6 wheels, IMO (and its just my opinion, doesn't mean its wrong and I don't want to offend anyone who's done this mod) I think C5's should stick with aftermarket wheels or OEM repos. Its sort of like seeing a C5 with C4 wheels, they just look out of place even though the wheels themselves look good. With so many beautiful aftermarket wheels out there, there's certainly no shortage of choices.

It's your car...... if you think it is right, then it's right.
If you're worried about other Vettophiles snickering, then
you probably already think it's wrong.

I've looked at a lot of wheels as I'm sure you have also and I think I'm eventually going with C6 machine face w/black , unless I find something else that blows me away . I've seen a lot of nice aftermarket wheels , but I don't want to take out a home equity loan to buy them .

I just bought the C-6 Black Wheels with the Alum Spokes from Bob's House of Wheels. I have yet to install them on my '99 because the Michliens I want are on back order. I hope to have them on soon!

Hey man you do what ever you want. You paid the bills. Personally I don't like the look of the C6 wheels but if that's what you want, go for it. I'm wearing polished OEM ZO6 wheels on my C5 and I don't care if I offended the "Corvette Gods".

I have an '04 w/stock polished wheels and I like them fine. If I had wagons, I'd either go with the 2k C5 wheels or aftermarket. I just don't like the idea of doing something to my car that makes it look like a newer model (as in C6, not 2000 vs 98). I've seen a lot of pics on the forum lately of C5s with the C6 wheels and they do look nice. Bottom line... if YOU like them, put 'em on and enjoy them and don't look back. As many say... it's your car.

The C6 wheels look really nice, and I think it's ok to put 'em on a C5.
If you like them, go right ahead!!

I got my C6 wheels from Corvettes of Houston and love the look..! I shopped around for a few months trying to find something nice but the prices for aftermarket wheels are astronomical... Besides, the average joe blow on the street dosnt know what kind of wheel it is....Just that they look great

Here's a picture of mine....

Default Thanks!

Thanks for all the feedback you guys! I appreciate the thoughts... I think I am leaning towards the chrome C5 wheels.

Thanks!

To me, wheels are just wheels. It doesn't matter to me what car they came from. Just do u'r thing.

If the C6 logo bothers you, you should be able to a blank center cap. I know that Bob at House of Wheels can get you blank centers. That way you don't have a C6 logo on your C5.

I was in your shoes several months ago. Torn between the C6 wheels and Z06 chromies. I let my wife decide. She wanted the Z06 chromies so we ordered them from Bob. Love the way they look.
Look it's your Vette. get what makes you happy.
