Painting lower rear bumper black on a pewter C5 ...gloss, satin or flat??
I'm thinking seriously about painting the lower rear bumper, on my pewter C5, black. However, I can't decide which would look better...gloss, satin or flat. Also, is it recommended to clearcoat the newly painted section afterwards? Anyone have pictures or thoughts? Thanks!

Satin, ... Gloss looks kind of cheap. Should be an accent not a two-tone look.......

I think satin would look good.

Satin with no clear coat. But really, I would rather use Wrinkle-Black. That IMO would look the absolute best. Just be careful not to get any wax on the Wrinkle-Black when waxing your car. It can be a pain to scrub the wax residue out of the Wrinkle-Black.

I've seen all three and I think satin looks the best -- although when I do it, I'll actually shoot in flat, but spray a satin clear to achieve the satin look.

I am seriously thinking about doing the same thing to my Machine Silver '04 coupe. Can anyone advise us why they prefer satin to gloss? Also, how much are you paying? The reputable outfit near me wants $750.00 claiming that the part to be painted has to first be removed. Sounds questionable to me.

Satin, you don't need to pull the bumper we did a friends car. Masked off the exhaust and the backend, put the car in a plastic bag we bought at auto paint store. His car was silver it turned out great.

Wow that price is rediculously high. Move on. I found a few pics that someone posted of a pewter hardtop with the rear bumper section painted black. Hope that person does not mind me posting their pics.
Looks great on this car but it needs to be lowered

If this is true I would buy it in a heartbeat. The only problem is trying to make a decal that can work around those lower vents. You would need to use multiple sheets I would think and that would create lines in the finish.
