Default Ohio state Senator Armbruster for front license plates

--------------------------------------------------------------------------------

I recently sent an email to Ohio Senator Jeff Armbruster's office asking that he not vote for front license plates in the state of Ohio. There is a bill coming before the Senate that has the ability to do away with the plate.

Here is the reply that I got. I would suggest that if you know anyone in the state of Ohio, that you send this to them. from his aides comments, he is obviously voting for the front license plates. I would encourage everyone to vote for his running opponent. Here is the reply I got back:

Mr. Turner:
The safety that two license plates affords greatly justifies the negligible cost of making a second plate. To be able to see a clear identifying number from both the front and behind a vehicle helps law enforcement, bus drivers, banks, gas station attendants, etc. in preventing crimes. It costs pennies to manufacture a second plate, but the added identification is well worth it the cost to prevent theft, help identify criminals, assist in tracking down missing persons, etc.

Sincerely,
KATIE KUHNS
Legislative Aide
State Senator Jeff Armbruster (R-13)
614-644-7613
614-466-4250 (fax)

It's pretty amazing that the state of Ohio knows so much more than the states that don't have front plates. If you need the address of where to send the email to let them know how crazy this is...send it to:

SD13@mailr.sen.state.oh.us

I am sure that you will get a reply from Katie Kuhn! I did!

Good luck in Ohio. Arizona came to its senses years ago. If you Ohioans can't change his mind, get rid of him. Or at least make his aides lives miserable.

Preventing crimes - now just how does that work? Maybe it helps them apprehend suspects, but preventing crimes?

Well at least they don't have to walk around to the back of your car to write a parking ticket

P.S. I'm really sorry about that one

I knew I really didn't need to look, but I did confirm that he is a Republican - what a surprise?

There are so many criminals that drive away from a crime in reverse.

Missouri has a bill before the legislature this year that would do away with the front plate. This has been tried before and failed. Don't expect it to go anywhere this year either. LEOs like having the dual plates on cars.

That's the same we get in Illinois every time this issue comes up. It's right out of the "Fraternal Order of Police" manual.....

Is there really a big advantage to Law Enforcement with cars having the front plate?

If there was a crime taking place I would look at the rear of the car to try to get license plate, make, and model of the car just in case the I got the license plate number wrong.

I guess the front would help but then under that thought why not have a license plate on both sides too. That way no matter where I was standing I could get a clear few of the plate.

Oh and probably a car used in a crime is either stolen or has fake plates on it.

I think many police officers like having the front plate, because what are they going to aim there laser device that they use to check for speeders.

Ohio IS the home of Drew Carey after all

Then again, we have the same insipid law here in Texas. It's the whole radar scam, period.

I wouldn't put too much stock in what an aide writes you either. I think Monica Lewinsky was an aide too.

Default Yup, you'll get tagged for no front plate in Ohio!

You have just been lucky, that's all. Got pulled over today for no front plate. I was behaving in every other way. I told the LEO that it's mainly a show car that I just pulled it out of winter storage (all true), and showed him the front plate that I had behind the passenger seat. I got lucky, he just wrote me a warning.

I think it sucks, as it completely screws up the front of the car...

here we go again.. that darned "safety" issue. How does havng a front license increase "safety"???

the word is just thrown in our face... almost like they're daring us to say we're not interested in "safety" ... when safety has nothing to do with having a front license plate.

Unfortunately my front plate is hanging on my office wall next to the 50th Anniv. poster.
