Is the Corvette for older people??
I read in Corvette Magazine that Corvettes mostly appeal to, and are purchased by, older men. After reading that, I began to look at the drivers of C5s and C6s and noticed that almost all of them appeared to be men in their late 50s and older. I also noticed that the drivers of Porches and BMWs appeared to be considerably younger. Is this coincidence or do you all notice the same thing or something different?

I bought my vette at 26, brand new, I'm 29 now. The forum guys I hang out with locally are generally in their late 20's early to mid thirties with a few older guys but the younger guys outnumber the older ones. You definitely won't see many teenagers in vettes but that's a good thing because a vette can be a dangerous toy for someone who is inexperienced. The insurance and "corvette tax" seems to make teen ownership kinda rare as well.

The Vette used to be only an older mans car because mostly people have to be in their 40's and 50's before they can afford them. However the Corvette is not as expensive as people think, compaired to other cars. I think other cars have gone up a lot more in price than the Vette has in previous years. You can get a nice used Vette for under $30,000 which makes is cheaper than buying most new SUV's, and Vette's get better gas milage than SUV's(In most cases!). I got my Vette when I was 28, but I hope to have one when I am 48, and 58 too. However by the time I'm 65 I'm might settle down and get a CTS-V.

I too got my first vette in my mid twenties and am on my second one at 29. I wouldn't say it is a "more mature"....yeah I will use that, man's car, but I think the average age of drivers in vettes is older....I like the Ferrari's and Porsche's as much as the next guy, but for me I love the roar of good 'ole American Muscle! Viva la Vette!

It is, but only because there is a cost of ownership factor. As we all know, this is not a cheap car to purchase. Maintenance is expensive as well, given the need for premium tires, shocks, etc. And insurance can be an absolute killer. Most people who fall into the median age bracket have established careers where their income allows more discretionary spending. Many have already put children through college or their children have moved on.
I also think it's the kind of car that generally appeals to men (no disrespect to women who own a Vette intended).
So yes, generally speaking older men buy the majority of these cars.

Not really
I had three Vette's so far, and I'm only 39, so I don't feel it is just for older men. My wife love's my current 97 C5 and she is only 31 (and she liked it when I bought it and she was only about 27 then). I loved these cars when I was a little kid, and I think most kids feel the same way.

I'm a guy (when last I looked) and 41. In hindsight (always 20/20 isn't it?) - I should have bought it 15 years ago. I could afford it then, I just just too busy playing with Mercedes Benz's at the time
So I'm making up for lost time now
