Default Finally Did A Good Visual Comparison C5 to C6

Both on a dealer lot, side by side, doing a visual exterior styling comparison.

The C6 is a very nice looking car. No doubt about it. But I have to say it's "trendy".

The C5 like the C3 are styled to last. They don't fit a partcular styling period. They stand alone, unassociated with other cars during the same time periods.

The C6 has similarities to other cars of today. Not directly, but indirectly. The particular defined linework solidly places the car in this time period. The headlights and other trimmings support it too.

I like my C5. The more I study the C6 styling, the more content I am.

Not bashing the C6 at all. An even trade is welcome. But paying more for a C6 is not in my heart.

At less than half price, I'd get a 2003 with every bell and whistle, with nearly the same mileage (10 to 20k is close to zero), and still in warranty.

Very well said. I love the looks of my C5 and hope to keep her a long, long time.

To me the C6 is just a "late model" C5, much like when the modestly restyled '91 C4 appeared and basically remained the same thru '96. I definitely don't see a C6 as a new generation Corvette. I still prefer the looks of my C5. Like was stated earlier, the C6 is too "trendy" looking rather than being a true "individual" like the C5 was when it was introduced in 1997.

The C6 does look like a lot of other cars on the road today. I like the hidden lights on my C5 vert. but I could live with the front of the C6. The back end of the C6 looks to me, like a early C4. I do not drool looking at that. John Carfo is a much better Corvette designer then who GM pick to design the C6, hands down! My C5/vert. is real hot looking when the top is down and the mag-red II blows you away...

Man, is a picture (or two flickering back and forth) worth a thousand words! I've tried to do that very comparison in my mind but not too successfully. These pics really show the C6 as a C5.5. I hope Chevy's reason to market the new Vette as a C6 is simply a marketing gimmick and not because they've truly run out of design ideas for new generations.

The biggest C6 improvement visually is the much smaller wheel well gap. Of course, most of us lower our C5s so that the gap is similar in size to that of the C6. From the front, the C5 is more exotic-like in that its width-to-height is well beyond the ratio of most other sports cars.

The C6 is still all Corvette, but the C5 design is a thing of beauty and will become a classic

Not bashing the vette at all but I noticed somthing interesting when I was at the chevy/acura dealership the other day.
The NSX changed to fixed Xeon headlights a while back- if you remember when the C5 came out it was compared to the NSX and at the time it too had pop up headlights. The two cars are very similar- then the NSX switched to fixed headlamps- now the C6 has them.
Compare the two and you will see some similar aspects- of course the vette is much better

I could watch that morphing for a long time!! and did!! I am really partial to the C5 and think that it looks more like the later model than the C6.
