Default Is my car a 99 or 00?

Ok. I bought it, owner saying it is a 99. On my door it says...production date 11/99. I was told that since it was made that late in 99, it would be considered a 00. Just curious. Anyone know?

FYI, I bought a brand new 2004 Z71 in June of 2004. The build date was June 2004. Point is you can have a vehicle built well into the same year it is built under.

Default 2000

According to the door is a 2000
According to the X id a 1999

Whats on the Title.....I hope is one of those because if not.........you are in trouble................

Have you thought about X is a 1999 and the door was replaced from a 2000 model...................Ask owner if it was hit on the door.

If it has a keyhole on the passenger side door it is a 99.

ok. i just checked. The 10th digit in the VIN # is an x. There is a keyhole on the passenger door. Its just wierd that it was made that late and still considered a 99. Is there any difference between early and late model 99s?

Thats funny, like I said my 2000 was made 8/11/1999 and has a VIN of Y so how could your car be made after mine and be a 1999.

You need to have the vin run to see if there isn't something funny going on..like a bad wreck.

The Drivers door on your car must have been replaced due to an accident. The Vin on the door tag HAS to be totally different than the one on the title and on the dash mounted VIN plate. Run a CarFax on the door tag vin I bet it comes up as "Salvage" title.

post your VIN and someone will be able to decode it for model yr and exact date of production. Also check VIN on dr door jamb, glove box label, pass front frame rail and cowl panel/windshield to verify that all 4 match.

That's strangly odd that it was made that late in the year and it's still a '99?
