Update: Trip and Hotel details added http://forums.corvetteforum.com/show...&postcount=100
Update: Forum members making the Voyage http://forums.corvetteforum.com/show...4&postcount=36
The group that brought you the Corvettes Against Breast Cancer Rides I & II ( http://www.peachstateposse.com/forum...pic.php?t=5472 ) is at it again, this time with something just as exciting as before !!!
New for 2005, we’re going on a 4000 mile (round trip) road rally / pledge drive from Atlanta, GA to Las Vegas, NV entitled Corvettes Against Breast Cancer Ride: Voyage to Vegas.
According to the National Breast Cancer Foundation, “Each year 182,000 women are diagnosed with breast cancer and 43,300 die. Almost everyone knows someone whose life has been affected by a breast cancer diagnosis or that of a loved one.”
The Corvettes Against Breast Cancer Ride is an idea presented by several of the CSA Foundation ( www.csafoundation.org ) members to promote breast cancer awareness and provide a means to raise funds in support of this charitable cause.
Here are the details we have for you so far…
We are launching our Voyage from the Georgia State Capitol parking deck on May 26, 2005. The first leg of our journey will take us from Atlanta, GA to Bowling Green, KY where we will meet up with many of our Corvette friends and enthusiasts at the Corvette Forum Cruise-In.
From there, on Friday, May 27, 2005, we will depart from the Corvette Museum in route to our next resting point, Oklahoma City, OK. This leg will be the longest single day of travel for us (in time and distance). We’ll need the rest when we get there…
Saturday, May 28, 2005 will see us departing from Oklahoma City, OK to Albuquerque, NM
On May 29, 2005 we’ll start out on the last leg of our outbound voyage; Albuquerque, NM to Las Vegas, NV
We’re still working out the details, but once we get to Vegas, we’ll have a presentation at one of the local hotels and then 3 days down time/tour time. We’ll make the reverse voyage home on June 2, 2005.
June 2, 2005 – Las Vegas, NV to Albuquerque, NM
June 3, 2005 – Albuquerque, NM to Oklahoma City, OK
June 4, 2005 – Oklahoma City, OK to Little Rock, AR
June 5, 2005 – Little Rock, AR to Atlanta, GA
The crew going will be accepting pledges per mile to support the fight. $0.01, $0.03, $0.05, $0.10 per mile. ( Pledge forms attached soon )
2000 One-Way Miles Pledge
$0.01 = $20.00
$0.03 = $60.00
$0.05 = $100.00

FYI: Hotels have been reserved roundtrip. We are still negotiating pricing so the list will be released when all is confirmed.

I may caravan to Bowling Green with you guys, it would depend if I can get my financial stuff in order.
Eitherway, this is such a worthy cause .. my aunt died from breast cancer about 4 months ago.
May I ask where the money will be donated to?

i'd love to be part of the welcome committee! if you think it's a good idea i will see about coordinating a photo opportunity in front of the 'welcome to las vegas' sign. lots of people do it but never as many people as your talking about. there is a police substation right up the road so i can stop by and get info about permits and stuff. i think it would make a very nice event photo.

Marvin,
I will definitely want to donate to this great fundraiser. I don't believe that I would be able to make the trip although it would be a blast! It's an awesome idea and you do a great job coordinating everything.
We'll see you all again in October for sure!

There is no parking near this sign and it is a VERY VERY busy section just past Mandalay bay and close to the Airport.
We did this once stopped on the side of the road and a cop pulled up and was going to give us a ticket.....and this was at 2:00 am in the morning.

As far as donating goes, anyone interested can go this link and donate: http://www.csafoundation.org/vdonate.asp
Any amount of help for this cause will be greatly appreciated.
Oh yeah, good call on the photo opp...maybe we'll have to find another Vegas land mark to use. I'm sure there are plenty

Oh man,
I think you just made my winter....
I think I might be able to join up with you guys in OK-City. I live in Kansas City and would really love a road trip, especially to Vegas. Need to check work/wife/calendar, but I am thinking that I am in

i've seen others with their cars there dozens of times and even had both my cars up there once. i had two different cops drive by when we had them there and they looked but not a peep.
i'll check into it. i'd bet (no pun intended) that for a good cause i can get it done!
oh, yeah, couple things. i might want a round figure of how many cars your expecting so they know. will you have a banner? if sweet-talking is required could we offer to donate a portion of the proceeds on behalf of the dep't?

CFOT Attention Whore
oh yeah, one last thing, we will want to schedule this at a time that will be relatively convenient for not only us but also the local authorities and traffic. for that reason, i think teusday, the 31st would be best. and sometime between 9am and 1130am. if those that want to attend can make this time, i think that would be our best bet for successfully lobbying the powers-that-be.
