Default Cost of a Dyno Tune

Well, it is time to start modding the vette... After buying my 99, I told my wife I wouldn't mod until I have had it 2 years. On Feb 3rd, it is 2 years to the day Anyway, first mods are going to be Halltech Stinger Intake and Borla Stingers. I figure the next best bang for my buck is getting a professional tune (most likely by Norris Motorsports). I was just curious if anybody here knows what an average price for a dyno tune costs so at least I will have a base line of what to expect. Thanks

My tuner (DTE) is in the $500 range but that isnt just some base tune that he throws in there and thats all you get. He dyno's it, tunes it, test drives it, tunes it, dynos it, drives it, etc. It doesnt matter if it takes 1 hour or 8 hours, he just wants to get it done right.

I think I've seen dyno tunes in the $300 range, but I dont know what all you get with those.

Here in Michigan it's about $575.
Save more money and add some headers first. Then Dyno.

Prices are in the $400.00 to $500.00 range here in Houston. Sometimes they may vary a bit if you're getting other work done at the same time. HTH

I would ad LT headers before the dyno tune, however, you should expect to pay Mike somewhere between 4 and 500 dollars. Best of luck to your modding!

What is the significance of the 2 year wait? Warranty issues?

Mike Norris is THE MAN!!! Well worth the expense of one of his dyno-tuneups.

The shop that I have checked with wants $500 for a tune. That includes a service similar to what 2k1 vette mentions.

Must not be married. Just kidding, I think.

In my experience, if you can wait out the term of the deal made, it pays off in the end.

And not only that, it also makes things much more pleasant on those long cold nights while you're waiting it out.

More mods before spending the money.

Default no tune

there is no need to tune unless you put a cam or go forced induction. Intake, headers, and exhuast will give you plenty of power with stock tune. You might get a couple more horsepower but not 500 dollars worth. wait until you do a cam if you want to tune.

IMHO - Skip the tune and just get a couple dyno pulls for a baseline about $75. For a dyno tune $500 seems about the norm. I agree with the others who suggest you at least get LT headers first.
Another factor to consider is retuning cost and your mod goals down the road. Consider that your car will adapt to your first mods and LT headers pretty well....maybe pick-up 15-20hp with a tune but if you go FI or HC down the road you will have to come up with the $$$ for the retune... cause then a tune is a must! WARNING: MODS LEAD TO MORE MODS
