Default Vortech S/C and VaraRam

Anyone seen or felt any hp gain, with VaraRam. Considering change my Blackwing to a VaraRam to feed my Vortech S/C.

I put a Vararam on my car before doing the vortech. Did a before/after dyno and it picked up 35 HP at the rear wheels which I thought was quite impressive. Doubt if you'd see much difference between the blackwing and the vararam, but to me the vararam was a more elegant solution.

That was some nice and cheap hp numbers.
I'm thinking of cut a hole under my blackwing and put a cover
over the filter to force cold air in.

I'm very sure you got one of the best forced air filters

[b]how did you gain 35 rwhp through ram air if the car was stationary on the dyno rollers...? was it the crap fan they put into your radiator intake?

and how much did you get with the vortech s/c?

The improvement on the dyno is just due to the vararam flowing better than the original hugely restrictive air box.

Car made 273 RWHP standard. 308 RWHP with the vararam and 530 RWHP with the Vortech.

there shouldn't be any difference due to the fact that the vortech is forcing the air in and has no problem sucking the air through any filter system. i have the vararam and felt some improvement although with any filter in the system the air flow is greatly restricted. one day i was cleaning out my filter and put my wet dry vac hose on the blowing side and stuck it right up against the filter and the 130mph wind barly blew through . although any positive pressure is better than a restrictive system.

Free flowing air filters can make a big difference for a Supercharged setup.

Better Q would be, is there much of a gain for a Vararam vs. other aftermarket free flowing filters? The Vararam has some restrictions in it's plastic plumbing some have noted.

Opinions vary on this subject. I used to have a blackwing with my Vortech setup, but switched to the Vararam.

I was on the dyno a few months back, and even with a powerful fan going and Z06 screens in the cutouts, I was getting no fresh air into my blackwing.

Some say that the SC will suck up all the air it needs. I like the idea of actually forcing nice fresh air from outside the car to the SC. Hey, it certainly isn't doing any harm, and why make the SC work harder then it does already!

I have been thinking about the Vararam since I got my S/C. I think Santa has to add something to his bag!
