Generally how long does a stock clutch last when adding a procharger?
Just wondering how long down the line I'm going to be needing a clutch after I install my procharger. I have about 33000 miles on my car now. Thanks.

I fried mine the same day leaving the speed shop. Drivable yes, but i could not launch the car at all the clutch would spin.

Ok, so launching fries it. How about just getting on it while already rolling? Does that fry it just as quick or is that a little easier on it?

I wasn't too hard on mine. Did a few 2-3K launches and a lot of roll racing. Mine lasted right at a year and 6K miles. It's actually in the shop now having a McLeod put in.

I know people that have been able to stay stock. I replaced mine after about 700 miles. The clutch actually didn't look that bad but the throwout bearing was in pieces.

Does it slip while racing from a roll? What about the 2-3k launches?[/QUOTE]

I am just finally replacing my clutch. I have 40,000 miles on it. I own a 99 Frc its not even a Z06 clutch. I can still drop into second on the highway and pull till 6000 rpm. I use BFG drag radials. When I try to race from a stop the car sits there and smells funny. I bought a Spec stage 3 with flywheel. Oh yea I am running a 120 shot direct port as it sits, but am changing to 180 shot this weekend.

My '97 stock clutch lasted 6 yrs and 15,000 miles with a mild 6# blower before it started slipping @ WOT. It was still completely driveable around town and was great for everything except WOT. This was with no racing, no clutch dumping, and mild street driving.
I had a McLeod TwinDisk installed and it made quite a difference on the top end... it held! Big SOTP difference, of course...
In my opinion, if you are going to track the car at all, swap out the clutch now and save yourself a weekend away stranded at the track. If you are just going to drive around town and get into the gas every now and then, keep the stocker for a while until you have the $ and time to swap it out.

About two weeks after i put the DR's on. Stock clutch won't last long even just hitting it from a roll. Do yourself a favor and start planning for a new clutch.

It held until about a month ago. No slippage. It was still driveable when I took it in, but it wouldn't hold at WOT at all.

From a dead stop (after supercharging), mine (F-body) slipped when it had 13,000 miles on it. From a roll, it just burns tires and not clutches.
But after putting DR's on, it will slip a bit at the top end of 1st and 2nd. I've now got 5,000 blown miles on my car. I don't beat it, so that's probably why it even attempted to last that long.
