Any Interest in a track tested ATI 8 rib set up ???
We have just about finished our R&D on out custom 8 rib set up for the ATI kits. The kits will come with the complete 8 rib set up with our custom tensioner or if you already have the 8 rib set up we can send just the tensioner kit. If we get enough interest we can put together a special package price for forum members. I am just throwing this out to see if we can spark some interest. I just finished testing this on my own car and have got consistant low 1.5 60 ft times with zero slippage on ET Street slicks. After a year of playing with these ATI kits we really feel we have gotten them down with this new setup. Let me know if anyone has any questions.. :seeya :seeya :seeya

Chris,
Does a big cube stroker come with the kit or is that optional.
:yesnod: :yesnod: :yesnod:
Great job guys, I figured you would find a way to improve the % of belt wrap on the blower pulley and make that belt not slip. Glad to see there are still some tuners trying to perfect these kits for the track.

Is it the same as the other 8 rib out there? Price?
If you have a stock 8 rib set up the upgrade would be around $400-500 or so..

Was this tested on a 346 CuI motor, or something with more cubes? If it was on a 346, do you have plans to test it on another car with more displacement? I am interested, but would like a set-up that will allow me to build a blown 408 and run successfully.
Also, does your kit still come with the ATI superdampener?

:lurk:
I'm keeping my eye on this as I might very well be interested. How does this compare to MMS' other than theirs is a 6 rib? Was the test car running a P1 or D1? How much boost/what max RPM? How much load/RPM at launch? Video of boost gauge at launch?

Does your kit include a tensioner(what type?) or the 8 rib pulley for the ATI tensioner?

is it true you were running NOS with these 10 sec passes?
RE::: THE 8 RIB ...is this the solution to belt slippage????
i am seriously thinking of an ati d-1 but the only thing holding me back is this slippage issue at the track....
 on the new set up chris

The tensioner is a higher presure tensioner then stock and is relocated to get 80% belt wrap on the blower pully. The car tested on was a 383 with 8 lbs of boost launching on ET Streets.

What do you think I am nuts..
RE::: THE 8 RIB ...is this the solution to belt slippage???? I have been playing with these belts for awhile now and this really seems to have done the trick. I have a bunch of passes and a good amount of street driving and its been working great.

I guess you did not price the ATI 8 rib setup that was selling for 1100 but does not work.. This includes the whole package including the ATI balancer and all the pullys and spacers and even the blower pully and matching belt..

I'm just saying, since you are gauging interest, that for that kind of money I would not even consider it. If I run into the slippage problem and can't fix it for a few hundred dollars, I will get rid of the blower and go motor/nitrous.

Re: Any Interest in a track tested ATI 8 rib set up ??? (CHRIS NJ C5)
Chris,
A couple of things.
First,
Congrats on being inovative and spending the time and money to come up with a different system to use the ATI blower...ATI left out a lot of R&D and as far as I am concerned was misleading with their product. However the D1 blower makes a lot of boost and is a good unit.
Second,
It looks like a lot of people are not familar with how much the 8 rib systems have been costing..whether it be from ATI, GWP, MMS, or Xtreme...your price seems to be within the competition. Also it seems reasonable that people with 500+ rwhp/rwtq cars would want their cars to be able to demonstrate that in the 1/4 mile. 11-12 sec passes with 600+ rwhp cars is unacceptable and a joke. A 650 rwhp car should be turning low 10's. Which leads into the last question.
Third,
You are running 10's with NOS and stating no belt slippage with a 383. What kind of 10 sec runs are they...I ask because there is a big difference between 10.9 and 10.1. So far 2 guys have claimed mid 10 sec runs...one using the GWP 8 Rib (not able to produce timeslip or video) and Steve(something) with a modified ATI 6 rib. Just running the ATI on a 383 (depending on boost) I would venture to say that without the S/C the car should turn mid 10's. With the S/C it should definetly be low 10's. Can you post sometime slips or a video of these cars doing it. I am not calling you a liar, (you have a good reputation on the forum..especially being somewhat new here). Can you run the car without the shot of NOS and see what times you post. If you can get into the mid 10's with the new pully system...I think it would validate that your 8 rib pully system is truly not slipping.
