Default Been awhile...

Have been a member of this for years... And years.. and, well getting old sucks. But!!!
Got me a new-to-me car. Hooray! It's a 99 hardtop with 43000 miles and a supercharger (heaven). Still smells like new leather! Car is BAD *** like a carnival ride. Such a sweet ride I get a little misty eyed thinking of her. Sniff. Smoked a scat pack dodge the other day! Guy was PISSED! $&#) yeah mother&#$&@#! And i do mean SMOKED. Went sideways going into third at 60 or so. Was already three car lengths ahead. And this was on Portland Ave by emerald queen casino.
So anyway, I would love to know more about the specifics of the V2 supercharger and it's nuances.

If you see me on the road... Tail lights and tire smoke

Nice ride.

I do not see many folks running that kit on the forum - I believe Joel used to run this cogged setup on his badass ride but think he since moved to a different setup. He is a MAX effort guy though - he really pushed that setup to the max - hopefully he'll see the thread and can chime in.

Things I'd look out for in general would be keeping an eye on those idler pulleys - I struggled for years with idler pulleys on my procharger setup - just kept eating the bearings up - I know this is vortech, but still just something to inspect. I believe this setup must use some sort of jackshaft pulley system to get the cog to spin - not sure if that needs maintenance. Might be good to call Vortech to talk it over with them as well in terms of regular maintenance of this pulley system.

Other item that stands out to me is the fuel setup - appears the car is still running a stock return less fuel system - not sure if you have a fuel pressure gauge or knowledge of what the fuel setup is (Boost a pump with stock pump, if it has an aftermarket pump, etc.) - The main maintenance things here are the fuel filters - just stay on top of those and be mindful of fuel pressure drops.

good luck with it, getting sideways at those speeds is both fun and scary. Keep the shiny side up!

Agreed, that's Vortech's own proprietary kit that was discontinued a long time ago. I'd call them for any questions/support. Newer/more common kits put the blower on the other side and run a front mount intercooler. I'm sure it's still fun as all hell, support/parts just may be an issue when/if needed.

I'm also going to personally recommend leaving TC on when doing runs unless you have the tire/skill to control it. Speaking from first hand experience, when it happens, it happens quick :/

You've got a whopping ~1,000 lb weight advantage over a Scatty and you should still be pushing close to 100whp more than a stock one... I'd be extremely disappointed if you didn't smoke him lol. Sure is fun messing with the Mopar guys though haha

Default Ahhh, man. What the hell?

Well all of a sudden the car started running differently. And I don't mean in a good way. I've noticed a 5 lb pressure drop in the fuel system from just over 50 down to about 45 and with that at low RPMs it shakes and backfire through the exhaust a little.
Also, it won't produce much boost maybe 5 lb. And while that gets me going pretty well it's nothing compared to what it was last week.
So I just finished installing a new knock sensor. Twice actually. It's got a LS6 intake and when reinstalling the intake after swapping out the knock sensor my dumbass somehow pinch the wire. And as you can guess the code for the knock sensor came straight back.
And I will admit that the small vacuum line on the map sensor became belligerent and our argument ended it's having a screw shoved in its mouth. So now of course my vents don't work properly. But that's no big deal compared to the hesitation. I've been smart enough to keep my foot out of it so I don't know if it detonates but I imagine it probably would to a destructive degree. Anybody know what's up? I plan on checking the fuel filter as soon as I can find the damn thing. And I do believe that my fuel pump has been modified with a voltage increase. I'm assuming that as there's a wire heading under the battery towards who knows where from the fuel pump relay in the fuse relay center under the hood.
The head's on the engine are casting 843. And it does have an LS6 intake along with BBK 80 mm Corvette throttle body. I don't think the injectors are stock but I really don't know. I can tell you they're green....
And the engine has dynotech headers, stainless steel pipe all the way back to MagnaFlow mufflers. Big stainless steel pipe. The magnaflows are the ones that have the inlet and two outlets on the same side of the muffler. And the car's quiet actually. There's just been a lot of modifications that I'm unaware of but I'm finding out one by one.
And in the meth injection I've been running heat and distilled water. But it looks like the previous owner had windshield washer fluid that was somehow sticky. What kind of image does that bring up in your head? Meth injection and sticky. LOL

DOnt worry about the knock sensor. I think ur right, it probably is a quick fix. Change plugs, wire, fuel filter and i bet ur good to go.

pooters is stooopid When you see some false knock the engine keeps backing off timing and takes it's sweet time putting it back, or if it beacons more false knock, never does

don't boost it until you have it running right and sorted out.
