Default Bored tonight.. so I cut my hood for the magnuson.

Well I went ahead and powered up the skil saw and grinder and went to work. The cutting was a lot easier that I thought and I was happy with the first results. It has not been sanded down yet and I am going to round off all the corners and put a small black rubber seal around the whole works. Now be easy on me its not finished yet, but what do ya think?

Since the shots are a bit far away, it may look better than it does up close...BUT, that being said, I think it looks great from the pics.

Are you planning to put a scoop on it, or actually leave it with the blower poking out? Looks very tough like it is.

As good a job as it looks like you did, I have a lot of confidence that once you're done and its all sanded and sealed it will be very, very nice!

Oh, and BTW...I like the teal '93 Cobra sitting next to it. :D

You just made my day! Looks great, but we need more pics! Do you think any oil vapor will mist out of there on the windshield?

 More power to you, I'm all for a lower hood profile. The pics of your underhood install, along w/ fuel rail covers, looks absolutely great.

Yeah, it took me a week to get up the nerve to cut my $85.00 fuel rail covers, but I figured the hood was just going to lay around the house, and I already have the extra cobra hood. It does look a little choppy up close but I think after I round the corners on the belt notch and add a seal around it, it will look pretty good. I'm sure I'll have to get a hood before our annual trip to Kentucky, just in case of rain  I still have long tubes and a trip to rippies's for tuning to pay for so my budget was my #1 consideration for my chop shop job. :D :D

That doesn't look too bad. When you see the stock hood cut it makes you wonder why someone can't make a better looking hood than what's being made now. The part over the belt and pulley could be done with a functional bubble. If someone made a functional scoop to cover the hole that could also be made to look pretty good.

Great Job, congrats on being the first to do it, we had 2 different customers that backed out of letting us do the same, now all you need is an intercooler mounted at the base to bring it up a couple more inches.

Looks great!
Any issues with it or the belt getting wet in the rain?

I think I'd round out the square cut belt notch a little more too.

An intercooler is an interesting idea! You could go smaller on the pulley and increase boost with an intercooler. Are there intercooler options out there?

Dude...when the Magnusson came out,,I had commented that this is all anyone would really have to do on this forum...and everybody freaked out! If I wanted a magnusson this is the only way I would run it. Good job for being brave enough to show the world. You can look at alternatives to covering during inclement weather...carbon fiber would be my first suggestion..you could make it a true "Shaker" hood. You may have to cut the hood a little more and then fit a piece over the blower (carbon fiber) then when you close the hood it would fit like a glove.just like the old shaker hoods from the 60's. If it was my car I probably just would not drive it in the rain...I avoid driving my on rainy days anyway..but very cool..sometimes boredom is good!  :chevy  :flag
