The look is not for me, but I congratulate on the nads to do it. I also like the teal Cobra in the background.
One other question, how much horsepower and torque are you making with that monster?

99Z51R, you should take some measurements of the clearance required
for an aftermarket hood to fit, I have been emailing a lot of fiberglass
venders found on the internet to see it they will make a hood. One that matches the clean lines of the C5

Congrats man. That looks really cool.
I had seen this done on a 350Z with a blower, and i thought it was cool too. If I were you, I would pursue this further (hey, the hood's already been cut) and cover it with Plexiglass - Ferrari style. Nothing shows more muscle than power-adders in your face.

1997C5VTBOY, e-mail me with the specs you want, I have already given another member some measurements. I am looking into a plexiglas or some form of clear cover that could be attached from the underside. It may be a while before this happens since I'm currently doing my long tubes and preparing to trailer the car to Rippie's for tuning next month. I'll post if I come up with anything, and after I get some dyno numbers from Rippie :D :D Eric

I could **** my pants.
Just what some of have been asking for, a hood martyr. Man if we can get a glass man to do this local, its the ticket.
Save the extra hood money and get the polished. Loose shirttails beware.
Damn, I love it. Please share the knowledge.

You can look at alternatives to covering during inclement weather...carbon fiber would be my first suggestion..you could make it a true "Shaker" hood. You may have to cut the hood a little more and then fit a piece over the blower (carbon fiber) then when you close the hood it would fit like a glove.just like the old shaker hoods from the 60's.

Re: Bored tonight.. so I cut my hood for the magnuson. (99Z51R)
Attended a talk the other day where a guy formed Lexan over a form in his kitchen oven. It worked just fine BUT smelled up the house and meals for a long time there after. I DO NOT recommend doing this yourself, nor in your kitchen oven nor in your house. DO NOT use a microwave oven. I have no idea how toxic the out gassing from Lexan is. It shouldn't be too hard to find a place that can make the shape you want safely. Consider a Lexan tear drop shaped bubble (maybe open at the back) to fit over the opening. Lexan is very strong and doesn't yellow as easily as some materials you might use. :D

You can form Lexan, or plexiglass with a portable propane torch. I'd made some pretty cool looking picture frames out of heated plexiglass. You just have to heat it, and bend it a little at a time, or it will melt, and /or change colors(usually yellow, or orange). Pretty easy though, if you take your time.

I know how I felt when I took a DA to my 1987 short box for a paint job. That took a HUGE set of highly polished stainless steel ***** to take a saw to that hood. ;)  ;) :flag :flag And as usual, those who take risks usually stand out and above the crowd

Sick!!!
I like!
I would change the picture in your sig to show this.
If I were in your shoes i would get an intercooler to raise the supercharger up, and install a hood scoupe that very closely matches the liners of the car in clear with a port twords the windshield so that hot air can escape. I would make it attach to the under side of the hood and pop up through so that you can take the plastic scoup off to polish it out, it will get dirty and fade in the sun over time.... this is AWESOME!!! its really nice to see someone with the ***** to make their own customizations instead of pulling out the visa.
nice

Heck the only reason I had to cut the hood was because my wife did her own little hacksaw job on my visa after I bought the supercharger without telling her :jester :jester
I think I will be doing the clear lexan scoop from the bottom, I'm just finishing up on the new headers and then will go back to working on the scoop. Going to Rippies next week to set-up an appointment for dyno and tune, hopefully late Jan. or early Feb. I'm gonna ask him about the intercooler and see if anyone can or is making it for this application.
